•The castle met its end during the Great Northern War when it was demolished by Russian troops (1702).

•In the Middle Ages, Vastseliina Castle was well known in the Catholic world as a popular destination for pilgrims.

•They worshipped the holy cross in the castle chapel and a visit to the chapel gave them sanctification for 40 days – it was first validated by Pope Innocentius VI in 1354.

•The ruins of the castle are near Vastseliina.

•Pikk Hermann or Tall Hermann is a tower of the Toompea Castle, on Toompea hill in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.

•The first part was built 1360-70. It was rebuilt (height brought to 45,6 m) in the 16th century.

•A staircase with 215 steps leads to the top of the tower.

•The tower consists of ten internal floors and a viewing platform at the top.

•Pikk Hermann tower is situated next to the Estonian Parliament building and the flag on the top of the tower at 95 metres above sea level is one of the symbols of the government in force.

Tallinn Song Festival Ground• The Song Festival Ground was built in the 1960s

for Song Festivals.• Song and Dance Celebration – this is almost a

sacred notion. It stands for the true birthday of Song and Dance, a great spiritual feast, a tradition not to be missed. /Doris Kareva/

• Last half a century has changed its status to be the symbol of dignity, freedom and freshness.

• Under this arch we have sung ourselves free and during their world tours different pop- and rockstars have performed here.

• The arch can hold more than 15 000 people, in front of it almost 300 000 people have stood side by side to sing.
