It's partial obscurityis due to not being on a 'through road'. It takes it's name from thenearby farm of Withnell Fold which has a date stone of 1736.However the building of the village wasn't started until 1843/44 tohouse mill workers. The building of a 'Paper Mill' was started byThomas Blinkhorn Parke in 1843 and the first paper was producedin 1844.

WWW.BlackburnCameraClub.Co.UkWe have moved please amend your bookmarks

Our new web address is www.blackburncameraclub.co.ukThe new email address is [email protected]

The club is deeply indebted to the work of John Milton andother volunteers who between them created our webpresence. The site they created has proved very popularand a great success. However as you will be aware therewere a few problems and John had to work over Christmasand again recently when the server which hosts the sitecaused the site to disappear.Your Committee decided that this gave us the opportunityto rehome the site on a commercial server which offers“cloud hosting” which should mean that it is now safelyhoused and will be there when you want it.We also decided to change the domain name to somethingmore obvious to outsiders. The main site does not require you to log in or do anythingcomplicated and we have tried to simplify the menustructure so that everything is easy to find.Recent and back issues of Pixel & PixelXtra are nowavailable under a tab and a new tab Info for Membersgives access to rules etc.The Members Images tab takes you to members websitesand a gallery where members can upload their ownimages..

The Forum & GalleyThe Forum and Gallery have changedfrom our previous site. These have different levels of privacy so members will need a User Name &Password to make full use of them. You do not need a password to view the content of galleries so these arevisible to everyone including none members. However only members canpost images or leave comments on images. The Forum is completely private and only available to members either toview or post. The operation has been simplified and we have reduced the number ofseparate forums. This should make it easier to find relevant posts but if itneeds any fine tuning we may insert additional headings. In the gallery members can within reason have as many separate albums asthey want. You could therefore have a separate Portrait & Landscape galleryif you want. There will also be “Club” galleries in due course with images fromCompetitions Outings etc.To make full use of these facilities members need to register on the site. Youneed to register separately for the forum and gallery but you can use thesame user name and password if you wish. You can choose your own username and password but if I can make a request please choose arecognisable user name so that people know who they are replying to.

Access to the ForumWhen you first visit the forumby clicking the TAB on themain website you will see thescreen on the last page.At this stage you do not have a User Name or Passwordso you can't log in.Instead look at the menu bar and you will see the wordregister. Click on it and the page to the left will appear. Fillit in and click “register” at the bottom. Now obviously anyone not just club members can do thatso you will find that you now have access to a page thattells you that the forum is private. The website sends an email to the secretary who willupgrade your access and let you know that you can nowpost. The club does not have access to your password sochoose one you can remember.

Page 9: PixelXtra

Access to your GalleryThe process to obtain a gallery is verysimilar. When you first vist the page youwill see the page shown earlier. If you would like a gallery of your own click register and the page to the leftopens. Fill it in.The system requires that the club authorise your access so there will be ashort delay because this is a manual operation.Once you get notification that you are registered log in with the user name andpassword you chose. If you hover over the My Profile tab you will see the option to [create/orderalbums] click it and the page lower left opens.Click New Album button, give it a name the you can upload images to it byfollowing the dialogs.Members WebsitesIf you already have a website or albums on a sharing site such as Flickr,Picasa or similar Email me [email protected] [Note newEmail address] and I will place a link on the website for you.
