TOP 5 WAYS TO SAVE MONEY AT UNIVERSITY

BY STEFAN MEKKI

About my Topic? After reading how much it could potentially cost to attend university, I wanted to find out what are best ways to save money whilst attending university.

After collecting results from an online strawpoll answered by 33 current and former university students, 24% thought the best way to save money was to ‘Obtain a Part-time job’.

For an average academic year, it costs £10,133.Within a couple of years that figure will shoot up even higher. Therefore I think saving money whilst attending university should be a priority for future students.

Target AudienceThe primary target audience will be students at university who might be struggling financially. Struggling financially will lead to stress for students, therefore jeopardizing their education, for which they have paid for.

My secondary audience is students at higher education who plan to attend university. I hope that this report will give them an early insight on not only how to save money, but to what the university lifestyle is like.

Audience Research

As I showed you earlier, both former and current university students took this strawpoll to indicate which concept they thought would be best to save money.

As you can see the top 5 most popular answers chosen were:1) Obtain a part-time job (24%)

2) Stick to a weekly budget (21%)

3) Having a student discount card (18%)

4) Buy non-branded food and drinks (15%)

5) Share accommodation (9%)

Therefore these will be my top 5 ways in which to save money at university.

Logo DesignMy first design was the simplest of the 3. Plain, yet bold, it would easily catch the eye of the viewer.

The second design was based on the London Underground logo. Due to copy right reason, I had to use blue to outline the circle instead of red. However ‘Your Finance’ is written in a different shade of blue as it’ll attract the viewer due to the contrast of the colour.

My Last design is simply based around the pound logo. The bold writing around it, is the only writing around the design therefore it’ll instantly be noticed.

Final Logo Design

For my final design, I went with design 3 as I thought it was simple, yet it seemed to stand out due to the bold colours.

However, for my final design I decided to change the positioning ‘Finanace’, due to the boldness of the pound logo. Furthermore, I decided to use an animated pound logo, as it will attract viewers due to the sparkling colour.

The main genre of my programme will be comedy. Although, no script has been written yet, I plan to write a comedy script.

However, part of my programme will be filmed at several different university's such as: Roehampton, Westminster and several others.

Convention that will definitely be used: -Interview-Cutaway-Vox Pop-Voice over
