MARCH 2015 I FIRST ISSUE

“I mean, when you just look at the tale of the tape, I have a longer reach, I’m taller, I’m stronger and I’m more accurate”, pahayag ng 38-year old na si Mayweather Jr. Dagdag pa niya na naniniwala siyang malaki ang nagbago k a y P a c m a n m u l a nang iwanan niya ang kanyang strength and conditioning coach na si Alex Ariza noong 2012. “He may not be the same fighter, but this is a guy that I cannot overlook. He got here somehow & someway. You never take anything for granted because anything can happen. But as far as me being nervous or worried, absolutely not but I’m always cautious & smart.”

Tinatayang 10 firearms ang nakuha ng BIFF mula sa tropa ng SAF sa naganap na engkwentro sa Mamasapano, Maguindanao madaling araw ng Enero 25.Giit pa ni Misra “Let them come here and take bullets that they want us to return”.

K a p w a i b i n a s u r a a n g p a n a w a g a n n g pagpapaliban ng visiting forces agreement at ang hiling ng kampo nito na ibaba ang kaso mula murder sa homicide.

Ayon kay Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration weather forecaster Alvin Pura “Temperatures will be slowly warming up in the next few days due to the easterlies. Cold and dry air from China and Siberia brought by the northeast monsoon will recede gradually in the next days”.

Abby Sangalan, the daughter of a noted Filipina Taekwondo athlete has earned distinctions from news publication for her outstanding achievements in the same martial art. Abby, the wonder kid recieved the Junior Star of the Year Award out of dozens of finalist this month, according to Daily Telegraph she was given a medal and a cash of $1000, which would help her continue competing as she moves to senior division. Abby's mother Natalia, a former Philippine national team member, had trained her since she was young at their family-owned Taekwondo Academy for Young Athletes (TAYA). Abby is ranked 3rd in Dan Kukkiwon black belt, having started her training at the age of 6, as a young athlete she quickly gained traction in competitive circuits. She's becoming the New South Wales champion 3 times in 2012 and 2 times in 2013, according to TAYA's website. Last year Abby won the gold medal at the Oceania Championships, reached round 16 in the World of Junior Teakwondo Championships, and she was ranked by the Australian Institute of Sports among the country's Top 50 rising taekwondo athletes.

Melaniel V. Vecina, succeeded and earned the right to the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study (YES) program in the US. Despite having one of her senses taken away at a very young age, Melaniel was picked from more than 8,000 applicants with and without disabilities from around the world. According to Melaniel, it was her honour to represent all the blind community, and to take away all the perception that all the disabled persons just need to stay at home. "Paligsahan ng may K sa Kasaysayan, Kultura ng Pilipinas, History Quiz by the Na t iona l H is to r ica l Commis ion o f t he Philippines (NHCP) and National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) are the other scholarship Melaniel have won last year. According to her mother Carmencita, Melaniel lost her sight at the age of six through infection. At first Melaniel felt depdressed, Carmencita didn't expected that this will happen to her daughter because she was

healthy. According to Carmencita if she was her in her daughters place she would have lost hope. But despite her condition, Melaniel would still help in performing household duties, even taking care of her younger siblings. With this scholarship, Melaniel is more determined to become a successfull lawyer like her idol Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago.

Abe said that the goverment will unite to take comprehensive measures for promoting the creation of a country that is unbending in disasters. In addition to this, Abe said that this will be accomplished by accelerating its reconstruction, making maximum use of the valuable lessons learned and constantly acquiring the latest knowledge and expertise. Japan goverment is planning to hold a memorial service on March 11th in Tokyo to

mark its 4th anniversasry, with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe as the head of the organizing committee. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will also ask the members of the public to observe a minute of prayer around 2:46 PM on March 11 when the tremor struck the country.

Last month the Japanese government decided to allow nurses and caregiver trainees from Philippines and Indonesia to stay in Japan for 1 more year for further training and to give failed candidates another chance for qualification exam to work in Japan. This is the third time the government of Japan has decided to give an extra year to prospective health-care workers from Philippines and Indonesia. First extension was in 2011 and the second was in 2013, which a Japanese official said has helped boost the overall pass rate. The candidates arrived in Japan and take language lessons for six months and received on-the-job training. Candidate nurses are given three chances to take the exams and one for caregivers. An extension makes it possible for prospective nurses to sit for the test four times and for caregivers twice. Around 2,200 trainees have so far come to

Japan from the two Southeast Asian countries in line with the agreements.

people will immediately think of Boracay, Puerto Galera, and Pagudpud. Yes, they can still be great places to unwind but if you prefer solitude, there are other less popular places that can give you just that. The good news is that you don’t even have to leave the country to visit some unspoiled vacation spots. Here are just 8 of the most stunning hidden paradises in the Philippines that are worth including on your bucket list:

Sabi nga ng isang kanta ay ‘Got to Believe in Magic.’

Taurus - April. 21 - May. 21

Gemini - May. 22 - June. 21

“Call me names for what happened but don’t involve her because she has nothing to do with what has happened,” saad ng Kapatid actress laban sa isang nag-comment na matapobre umano si Anne.

“I ‘fell in love’ with a man 10 years older at 15, since my mom was against the relationship for obvious reasons, she had no choice but to move back to the U.S. since the man told her he would marry me once he had his season break

which was months away,” ang mensahe ng dating aktres talent na si Jackie. “We lived together first, in those next months I would have get pregnant and have 2 miscarriages. Why and how they happened I will save for a more appropriate time. Not know-ing any better, I still married him a few months later mainly so my family wouldn’t be ashamed I lived with him and also because I believed he would change. “After we were married in December, I became pregnant with Andre, the situation in the home didn’t change and worse… his mom came for a trip and one day asked me if we had any marital problems she can help with. So I shared a few… “Once my then husband came home, all hell broke loose because he was upset I told her his issues and she believed him. To make this short, she yelled at me saying ‘Palayasin mo ‘yan dito! Tandaan mo, Jackie, wala akong apo sa ‘yo!!!’ What was I supposed to do? I was pregnant and I’d had 2 previous miscarriages... I had to leave. “I left for the U.S. and spent most of my pregnancy there with only a few phone calls with him and one visit during the summer. My due date was Nov. 3, An-dre was born Nov. 1 His dad never arrived. His reason for not coming sooner was he had an important game and his reason for not following after the birth was a typhoon. I was all alone. I should have known better. “I turned 17 3 weeks after Andre was born. I flew to Ma-nila shortly after on a flight all by myself where both Andre and I develop a fever... do you think anybody took us for medical help when we landed??? So many signs… I was so naive. I was always second best and never a priority. I never had a voice. “Maybe that’s why he married a child? I don’t

regret any of it because in the end I had Andre and Kobe. “But this would prove to be the beginning of a very miser-able life. “Wala, I don’t care, kasi I’m happy with the life I have now. I have a new mom [Lyxen Diomampo], she’s better and she treats us the way that we want to, and not like what she (For-ster) did to us,” saad ni Kobe sa panayam sa kanya noong 2013 sa launch ng Viva Artist Agency. “I’m happy with my life and I’m just focusing on the good side. I won’t focus on the bad side, because past is the past, and we’re already ahead to the future. I’m just going to focus now, and I’m not going to mind it.”

ceda ay nagsalita pa umano ito ng “I am not here to promote Albay.” “PTCAO [Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office] gave souve-nir Tshirt printed with - ‘Warm Albay’ “Xian Lim rejected it.  “PTCAO gave coffee book table titled - ‘Warm Albay’ - Xian Lim re-jected it . “Then Xian Lim says why: I AM NOT HERE TO PROMOTE ALBAY,” sunod-sunod na patutsada sa Facebook ni Salceda sa naganap na insidente noong Pebrero 19. Togeth-er with ordinary Albayanos, they are the ones who work hard, silently and patiently for Albay tourism. And based on the prevarications on his posts, he is not getting it. “1. Hindi namin pinapasuot ang Tshirt sa guests. Binibigay lang “2. The mere fact that coffee book table is called Warm Albay and the tshirt is Warm Albay should already be obvious that these are typi-cal touristic materials. The PTCAO incident morally approximates the cruelty and brutality in Maguindanao, and what’s worse we did not pay the MILF P350,000 to do it and we expected something better from him since he is not a terrorist, instead an artist. No forgiveness deserved,” dagdag pa nito. “My exact words to her [Atty. “I love Albay and I am always happy to be here with its good people. I deeply apologize to gov. Salceda and the people of Albay for the misunderstanding about my reasons for refusal to wear the t shirt.” “My parents raised me to be respectful and generous to everyone, and my management has always stressed the virtue of decency and humility. I do not do drugs and have worked hard to get to where I am.” “If you send me the t shirt and after I have cleared it with my clothing endorsement, I would be more than happy to wear it online and on air. I am also very willing to promote the book of Albay.” “In the spirit of Lent, and in the season of Kuwaresma, and on behalf of the people of Albay, I will accept his apology and it’s a necessary first step of repentance. And after repentance is penance, so bilang pen-ance niya po, e, talagang dahil ang nasaktan dito ay Albay toursim, so Albay tourism ang kailangan tulungan niya.
