T he bare-headed photographs inthe book "Swami Vivekananda'sSpeeches and Writings", published

by Messrs G. A. Natesan & Co. givea good idea of the appearance of the Swami. But no photograph ordescription can give a correct ideaof the power of his eyes. T heywere wonderful. Like the "Ancient Mariner" in Coleridge's famouspoem he "held you by the eye".T he voice too had an indefinableattraction. T hough not ringing andsilvery like Mrs. Beasant's in her

prime, more soft and pleasant likeMr. Norton's it attracted you andheld you. He could sing beautifully.

T ake up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, live on thatidea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and

just leave every other idea alone. T his is the w ay to success, that is w ay great spiritualgiants are produced.

My ideal, indeed, can be put into a fe w w ords, and that is to preach unto mankind their divinity, and ho w to make it manifest in every movement of life.

My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation, out of them w ill comemy w orkers. T hey w ill w ork out the w hole problem, like lions. I have formulated theidea and have given my life to it. T hey w ill spread from centre to centre, until w e havecovered the w hole of India.
