Physical Education Lesson Plan Basic Information Lesson Subject Floor Hockey Student Grade Level 6th Lesson Focus Stick Handling & Dribbling Number of Students 20-25 students Resources PE Central Lesson Duration 20 minutes NASPE Standards Met Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. Illinois Learning Standards/Goals Met 19.A.1a Demonstrate control when performing combinations and sequences of locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative motor patterns in selected activities, games and sports. 19.B.1a Understand spatial awareness and relationships to objects and people. 19.C.1a Demonstrate safe movement in physical activities. Learning Objectives Psychomotor SWBAT demonstrate the proper technique of dribbling four out of six times by the end of the lesson. Cognitive SWBAT understand that their dominant hand grips the bottom of the hockey stick and their non-dominant hand grips the handle at the top of the hockey stick by the beginning of the lesson. Affective SWBAT respect one another throughout the lesson. Lesson Activities Est. Where is your non-dominant hand placed on the hockey stick? Why should our hands be spread out on the hockey stick? Bend knees Eyes forward 4 mins Puck Control Students will individually control their puck for a couple of minutes Use both sides of the stick Keep the puck 1 ½-2 feet Soft taps
