NOVEMBER 2016 ©2016 Alnavco MEMO FROM PETE PASCHALL Have some interesting new releases for you in this issue. There are some new additions to the Superior collection of “Never-weres” and some re-issues as well. Navis/Neptun has some new models and check out the unique container port diorama from Mountford. Spider Navy & Saratoga have new models as well. We’re still working on our cart on the website. Until it is fixed, you can order by phone on our toll-free number 1-800-446-4422 or by email [email protected]. Now some of you “Old timers” may remember our “Vest Pocket” catalog. We are thinking of bringing it back and for starters, it is now available on our site under the name of “Quick Reference Catalog” and is downloadable. The last print catalog we published was in 2007. We have some copies left and if you would like one, just ask for it with your next order. There’s no charge for this. Let us know if you if a new edition would be useful to you. Speaking of Superior, Wayne Smith has added three new 1:1200 “Never-weres” to “The Fleet that never was” collection. Not only that, but he is starting work on the next three. If you’ll go to our new “Quick Reference Catalog” mentioned above, you can get some idea of what they might be as you will find a complete list of the ships in this collection now and planned for the future. Then there is the Clydeside situation. It has now been a year since we announced their new Java Sea series, and we have yet to receive a single casting. Over the past year Bill Gilpin, who is a terrific guy and a dear friend, has kept telling us that progress was being made, but nothing has been finalized. This is unfortunate because it prevents you from getting the work of an outstanding model maker and models available nowhere else. But we’ll keep all your backorders on file with the hope that this situation will change. Christmas will be here before you know it. Time to start dropping hints to those with whom you exchange gifts that you’d like to see some additions to your fleet under the Christmas tree. Remind them that we offer gift certificates and that they can order using our toll free number or by email. To insure you get what you want ASAP, do get your orders in ASAP. As we close out our 51st year, Sue, Pete, Jr. and I would like to thank you for our orders and your patience in our getting them to you. And may we be the first to wish you Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! SUPERIOR 1:1200 New 1:1200 “Never weres B115 $29.50 RODNEY, British BB planned rebuild 1930’s 35,000T, 710’L, 9-16”, 20-4.5”, 48-2 pdr. 16-40mm Plans were drafted in 1936 to rebuild RODNEY, NELSON & HOOD (Superior model B205). New lighter machinery would have been installed with the weight saving allowing for better armor, torpedo protection and increased AA armament. She was 11% completed when the Germans invaded and construction was stopped. Note: If you would prefer a main battery of 9-12”, just let us know. Note: The “masters” on these ships are almost complete. They then go to the casters so they should be available in a month or so. Preorders are being accepted now.
