Sunday Service at 10:00 a.m. Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m. Dear Friends, Many people name "In the Garden," as a favorite hymn. I never thought about the words very seriously until I was reading Then Sings My Soul which tells the unusual story about the author of this hymn and his experience writing the words. This hymn is meant for Easter, describing the encounter between Mary and the man she thought was the gardener, but was actually Jesus. The author was C. Austin Miles and the year was 1912. Miles was a pharmacist who began writing gospel songs, and later became an editor of hymnals and songbooks, as well as spending his time as a music director at churches, camps and conventions. Miles also enjoyed photography and while waiting for the film to develop, would read his Bible. He enjoyed the privacy and the blue light for his devotional time. One day while waiting for some film to develop, he read from the Gospel according to John chapter 20, and found himself immersed in the scene, he could see Mary standing with her head bowed, and trying not to cry as she came to the tomb, and when she bent to look in, followed by John and then Peter. I am sure that we will be singing "In The Garden," on Easter Sunday, March 27 at our 10:00 a.m. service. Feel free to come, you are invited! LADIES BENEVOLENT SOCIETY

No meeting was held in February of the Ladies Benevolent Society and there will not be a meeting in March. The April meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 in the vestry of the church with Nancy MacEwen and Marie Lolina as hostesses, where they will be making final plans for their Annual Silver Tea to be held on May 10, 2016. The Ladies Benevolent Society is open to any ladies, please feel free to come and join us.

Fairy House Workshop

Erving resident, Maggie Fadanza will share her techniques of putting together a decorative and one-of-a-kind fairy house for the garden. Bring materials to personalize your house such as birch bark, other barks, pine cones twigs, acorns, stones, marbles, shell, etc. Glue, scissors, clippers, ribbon, silk flowers, or small objects to add character to your project will be helpful. There will be a fee for this workshop.

An affiliate of the Millers River Environmental Center in Athol, the North Quabbin Garden Club formed in 2006 to encourage interest in all phases of home gardening. With efforts to promote better horticultural practices and foster civic beauty, emphasis is placed on use of

native plants, organic gardening, and the conservation of natural resources. Monthly meetings are usually held on the third Thursday evening of each month featuring informative speakers or workshop sessions. Members are currently working on a wildlife habitat garden at the Millers

River Environmental Center and planning their annual spring sale of perennial plants and specialty items. Guests and new members are always welcome, so join us this month and learn

something new about gardening. Meetings are free to members and guests are asked for a donation.

The March Senior Lunch menu is as follows March 1 Chicken Parmesan with marinara sauce, ziti, green beans, Italian bread, and applesauce. March 15 Cr. of cauliflower soup, grilled chicken breast with Florentine sauce, mashed potatoes, wh. wheat roll, and orange. We serve lunch at the church at noon. Please call Paula at 978-939-4086 by the Sunday before the lunch is served. If you need a ride we can make arrangements. We have a free blood pressure clinic on the third Tuesday of each month. Anyone interested in learning how to grow a giant pumpkin, please join us on Wednesday April 27, 2016, at 6:00 p.m. At the Congregational Church. We will be handing out seeds to all who wish to try growing a winner. There will be follow-up meetings for more advice and to answer any questions you have.
