Frequently Asked Questions
What costs are associated with joining Phi Kappa Theta?
Dues for living in the chapter house every semester cost roughly 3400 dollars total. So, what do you get out of thisfee?
Utilities: cable, internet, heating, electricity, water
Food: home cooked meals from our fantastic full-time chef
Activity fees: Greek Week, Homecoming, intramurals, tutoring
Social events
Out-of-house members pay a flat 250 dollars, which covers insurance and all activity fees.
Does Phi Kappa Theta haze?Phi Kappa Theta believes in building a strong brotherhood, and this does not include hazing. At Phi Kappa Theta,
HAZING IS NOT TOLERATED! Phi Kappa Theta was founded on Christian principles and will continue to operate on
those principles. All members are aware that hazing is not acceptable conduct for any person to inflict on others.
Each member has a personal responsibility not to condone any sort of hazing. However, like everything in life, it
will take hard work and effort to become a member of Phi Kappa Theta.
What are the time commitments? All members of Phi Kappa Theta are expected to attend weekly chapter meetings every Sunday, and new
members are required to attend an 8 week program to learn more about the Fraternity and what it takes to
become a member. Going through the new member process is not a permanent commitment and you will be
allowed to drop if you feel that the Fraternity is not for you. Although this will be an extra commitment, you will find
that becoming a member is something you will have fun doing.
How will the Fraternity affect my grades?Phi Kappa Theta is here to help you develop as a student. Every Monday the scholarship chair will hold a 2 hour
study sessions for all members to take advantage of. Phi Kappa Theta will also cover all fees involved with
tutoring. Most members have found themselves achieving better grades than when they haven’t lived in the
house. Phi Kappa Theta’s academics have consistently ranked in the top half of all fraternities, and in 2010 we
received an award for the best new member GPA.
How much is Phi Kappa Theta involved campus and the community?
At Phi Kappa Theta, we pride ourselves on our involvement both on campus and in the community. Eachsemester, the Fraternity holds a philanthropy to raise funds for the Children’s Miracle Network. We also participate
in Relay for Life, highway cleanups, and Food at First. The Fraternity also participates in a wide range of
intramurals, all completely paid for by the house. Additionally, members are encouraged to get more involved
with campus activities by joining clubs and other organizations on campus, attending lectures and musical
events, as well as supporting the athletic program by attending basketball, football, and hockey games.
