1.- The more common misconception is that Phi Theta Kappa is a fraternity or a sorority; however, PTK is an international honor society, and I make emphasis in International because this organization is tremendously big. There is over 2000 chapter in USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, and even Peru, Australia, and Dubai. 2.- The most notable part from Phi Theta Kappa is the leadership component of this organization. -There are three levels, starting at the Chapter Level, where chapter are expected to complete two projects every year: Honors In Action, which is a project based on a research made by the chapter, and the other is a college project which should be assigned by faculty from the college and its intention is to create a relationship with the faculty. -The regional level also offers opportunities, as a regional officer you represent the region in different events. But the more important part is that they perform a district submit every semester, and lead different leadership workshops during the regional conferences. -In the international level, they lead the honors institute and represent PTK in their divisions. They also have an intense professional development training in their HQ.All of these opportunities are obtained by campaigning and these impose a challenge for students. In addition, these opportunities are followed by scholarships.
