The Company has been a model investor in the country. Through the years P&G has invested over 150 million dollars in fixed assets. In 1994, P&G acquired a soap-manufacturing facility at Hub, Balochistan and in 2010 established a state-of-the-art laundry detergent plant at Port Qasim, Karachi. P&G’s investments continue to yield socio-economic benefits to the country by creating over 5000 direct and indirect employment opportunities and developing a local supplier base resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in local value addition to date. Protecting the Environment P&G incorporates sustainability at every stage of its products’ life cycle, including manufacturing, packaging and operations, by making these in an environmentally responsible manner. P&G plants in Pakistan are working extensively towards the company’s long-term environmental sustainability vision by promoting sustainability practices amongst employees as well as with suppliers, customers and partners. Since 2010 P&G plants in Pakistan have delivered 38%, 59% and 25% reduction in energy, water and CO respectively. Moreover, both P&G plants in Pakistan are ‘zero waste to landfill’ sites. Helping Communities in Need P&G’s social responsibility programs have touched and improved lives of over 40 million Pakistanis to date. Moreover, P&G employees have stepped up to contribute over 2400 volunteer hours towards various social causes in the past 8 years. Through the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water program more than 865 million liters of clean drinking water have been made available to Pakistani communities in need. The P&G Home at SOS Children’s Village, Islamabad has provided orphan children the chance to live a normal life.
