• Multi-disciplinary - Exchange of knowledge with various actors / stakeholders with different backgrounds.

• Collaborate as a network to identify key areas to be investigated – this is done during workshops, meetings, using web based communication tools and publications.

• Involvement of key stakeholders – Teams within each country will interact with each other to influence the debate over public policy.

Slide 2- NETWORK GOALS / OBJECTIVES

1. Identify and analyse key elements of the new strategic planning of the national development.

2. Achieve an understanding of the concepts and processes that underpin the production of the national plans – the context, methods, the sources of information used, key stakeholders / actors and their roles.

3. Analyse the relationships that exist between the process of national planning and the development outcomes in the short, medium and long-term.

4. To establish a network that generates new research and knowledge on the role of national strategic planning in inclusive development.

Slide 3 EXPECTED OUTCOMES (JAN 2017 – JULY 2018)

1. A website that connects the network and also involves a broad audience at a global level.

2. Nine case studies focusing on the causal processes observed in the production and implementation of national plans.

3. At least 9 working papers (two ay a global level and 7 at a national level) for academic publication.

4. A synthesis report that includes main findings and identifies research priorities to support policy making processes.

5. Seven executive reports of national case studies targeting political and social stakeholders / actors in each country.

6. A database of the main features of approximately 100 national plans developed from 2012.

7. Interdisciplinary research proposals to strengthen networking activity.
