DISTRICT NEWS
The Perth district provided CFFO material in the
Perth County Tent at the 2013 IPM held in Mitchell.
Although no one staffed the booth, it allowed visitors
to take information of the federation for their reading.
Thanks to Perth County for allowing us to do this.
The material stayed on site well past the weekend due
to the heavy rain on Saturday that caused the site to
be closed for a few days to “dry out” a bit. It has been
many years since the Match was closed on the final
day due to weather, but this year the site was not
negotiable on Saturday.
For the purpose of maintaining the federation’s
accreditation, it is important that all our districts are
active and involved with federation activities. It is
necessary that we have a district board that will
organize functions in the Perth district. We need some
of our members to step forward and take on this role.
If you are interested, please contact one of the
members below.

FEDERATION NEWS
Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario
Comments on Bill 36, Local Food Act
The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario
(CFFO) wishes to thank the committee for
considering the comments of our organization on
Bill 36, Local Food Act, 2013. The Christian
Farmers Federation represents over 4,300 farmers
across the province of Ontario. The CFFO
supports the approach being fostered by the
current draft that seeks to encourage education,
awareness, and promotion of Ontario grown food
over a regulatory approach, yet we see the
opportunity for the Local Food Act to do more to
help create sustainable local food systems in this
province.
