New Employee Assistance Program Provider For Former CNA Customers
As a result of this change, The Hartford will no longer use
Bensinger, Dupont and Associates to service CNA EAP
accounts. Effective April 1, ComPsych will take over all
existing CNA EAP plans from Bensinger, Dupont and
Associates, providing the same number of visits at the
same monthly rates that have been charged in the past.
The Hartford will guarantee those rates for the upcoming
two years.
In addition, The Hartford will not require re-contracting, and
will continue to administer EAP billing as a line item on
The Hartford’s bill. Customer notifications are in the
process of being sent out.

March 2004
With the acquisition of CNA, The Hartford is able to provide its
physician group customers with enhanced products, services
and claims management by combining the best practices of
Charles Stedman & Co., Inc. and MGIS, which together have
been providing insurance services to physician groups
for 81 years.
Stedman was acquired by The Hartford as part of the CNA
acquisition. MGIS is the distributor of physician and staff LTD,
STD and Life products for The Hartford. The two organizations
will join forces in the Salt Lake City, Utah, corporate headquar-
ters of MGIS, and – over the next several months – will begin
moving the administration of Stedman customers to
Salt Lake City.
For now, it is business as usual and Stedman customers
will continue to deal with their normal contacts. The ultimate
goal is to bring all Stedman customers into a new improved
MGIS/Hartford contract. This includes moving all CNA
physician business that’s currently written outside of
the Stedman Trust to MGIS.
Effective April 1, 2004, all new business will be quoted
through MGIS, using The Hartford’s contract forms and
procedures. MGIS and Stedman will be working closely with
the new combined CNA/Hartford sales organization to assist
you with new business opportunities, including several new
products that are available through MGIS.
The Hartford has already begun communicating these
changes to our customers. A welcome package, which
included a Q&A and sample employee notification, was
recently mailed to Stedman customers. In mid-March, a
second communication provided customers with a time
line of the move and in mid-April, a third mailing from MGIS
will provide new administration procedures.
In May, MGIS will assume all servicing functions for Stedman
customers. This will include billing, premium collection,
commission payment, and customer service. For more
information, go to www.producerview.com and click on
the CNA integration link.

CNA/Stedman Business For Physician Groups Transitions To Medical Group Insurance Services (MGIS)

Perspectives News to help your business grow.
March 2004
As part of the integration of CNA business, The Hartford is in
the process of renaming CNA Group Life Assurance Company
(GLA). The new name of the company is Hartford Life Group
Insurance Company (HLGIC). This process involves state
filings which are being submitted by The Hartford’s law
department. Once state approvals of the name changes are
received, The Hartford is legally required to update customer
contracts by sending a “change of name” endorsement
to each group policyholder.
An important step in this process is communicating the name
change to our policyholders. Below is a brief overview of
The Hartford’s strategy.
Strategy for Current CNA GLA Customers
A welcome letter was sent to current CNA GLA customers
explaining The Hartford’s acquisition of the CNA group
business and the resulting name change of existing policies
to HLGIC. A “change of name” endorsement will be sent to
each group policyholder as state approvals are received for
the change of name to HLGIC.
What About Current CNA Continental Assurance
Company (CAC) and Continental Casualty Company
(CCC) Customers?
A significant portion of the acquired CNA group business is
written on CAC and CCC paper and reinsured by GLA. These
policies are in the process of being converted to policies
that are underwritten by one of The Hartford’s underwriting
companies. As a result, customers will receive a new policy
and a “change of name” endorsement.
New Business
Please note that the process described above does not affect
new business. Generally, new business will be written on
Hartford Life Insurance Company or Hartford Life and Accident
Insurance Company paper, with some exceptions (such as for
small business). For those new customers receiving a policy
underwritten by GLA, they will also receive a “change of
name” endorsement with their policy.
