… offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2

“People Change ...” Throughout the past months I have been astonished to see how often prominent people, both men and women, have been called to step down from their positions or have been “raked over the coals” for things that happened decades ago. In each case bad decisions were made, judgments were made that were obviously askew. Some of those bad decisions no doubt reflect character flaws that still exist in some of those people.
As people of God, we are painfully aware of our pasts. We are conscious of bad decisions we made and decisions that led to sin, or poor judgements that caused us to do something we later regretted. I wonder what life in Christ would be like if those past mistakes were continually dragged out in public before our eyes, and before the eyes of the people around us! I wonder what life would be like without the forgiveness that we have in Him! The fact is, that we serve a God who forgives. We serve a God who loves us and who changes us constantly to be more like Him. We serve a God of forgiveness and of second chances.
Shouldn’t we also be people who respect change in others? Shouldn’t we be people who live to forgive others and who live to give those around us a second chance? Living lives of humble submission to Christ means that we are painfully aware of what we used to be, but at the same time we are joyfully aware of what God has done and what he continues to do in us.
“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our savior appeared, He saved us . . .” Titus 3:3-5a

Good Morning,
My family learnt this last week that even though you get the flu shot, you can still get the flu. You see, my understanding is, when you a get a flu shot you are actually getting a small, weakened dose of the variety of flu virus prevalent that particular year. It’s supposed to be so small and so weak it doesn’t make you sick, but causes your body to build up antibodies to that type of flu: So when the flu really does come around, the antibodies will combat it and you won’t get sick. If the doctors guess right on which strain to
fight, it can keep you from getting the flu.
The other day, I heard a preacher compare some people’s idea of Christianity to that of a flu shot. They don’t want to be exposed so much they turn into fanatics, but just enough to keep them from going to hell. This is not how being a Christian is described in the Bible. A good illustration is the way people get into a pool. Some people start out by just sticking in their big toe to see how the water feels then slowly and gradually make their way into the pool. More times than not, when people take this approach to following Christ, they never get all the way in the water. Instead, we are supposed to be like those folks who just run and jump right into the pool, fully immersing themselves in water. In Colossians chapter three, Paul tells us we should put off
our old selves and put on the new.
My question for you this morning is, are you trying to expose yourself to just enough Christianity – without being fully committed? Are you just wading around trying to see how the water feels, or have you jumped right in – putting
off the old self and becoming a new person?
In Him,
Luke

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen
is eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
