Pediatric OTL-‐HNS Airway Course

This two-‐day interac]ve course is intended to help OTL-‐HNS residents rapidly acquire pediatric airway skills. It features lectures and demonstra]ons by expert faculty, hands-‐on surgical skills prac]cum on live animal models, and numerous interac]ve simula]on scenarios of airway crises.

Aeer demonstra]on by experts, residents will have hands-‐on prac]ce of the following surgical procedures on both live and cadaveric animal models: • Cricotracheal Resec]on and Anastomosis • Augmenta]on Laryngotracheoplasty • Slide Tracheoplasty
Residents will par]cipate in eight different, interac]ve simulated scenarios. • High-‐fidelity scenarios will simulate
airway crises set in the opera]ng room as well as in recovery & emergency rooms.
• Group debriefing with interspecialty experts aeer each scenario, with emphasis on improving medical expert skills, crisis resource management skills (leadership, effec]ve communica]on etc.) and decision-‐making skills.
On live animal models, residents will learn advanced pediatric airway endoscopy skills, such as management of difficult airway foreign bodies and management of bronchoscopy complica]ons.

With regards to the pediatric airway, the goal of the course is to provide OTL-‐HNS residents an opportunity to gain important decision-‐making capabili]es, master certain surgical skills and to improve their crisis resource management skills.
We reserve the right to cancel this course due to insufficient registra]ons or circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, registrants will be no]fied as soon as possible, and registra]on fees will be refunded in full. However, we are not liable for loss, damages or other expenses that such cancella]ons may cause.
For registrants, a no]ce of cancella]on must be received in wri]ng 10-‐business days prior to the event. A $50 processing fee will be charged for cancella]ons received on or before March 15, 2013. No refunds will be offered aeer this cancella]on date.
