Others of us would be interested if it was about knitting, philosophy, or the ins and outs of our favorite movie star. While each of those books might hold the interests of some of us, any one of them would not hold ALL our attentions. SO WHAT IS IT about the Bible that can pull us ALL together and make us sit up and pay attention? The Bible has proven to be transformational to billions of people from all walks of life throughout the centuries for the simple reason that it is the story of US - as individuals and as a human race! It is the story of our family! It is the story that, because it is TRUE, becomes a dynamite: firing up our hearts, igniting our imaginations and pouring the blessings of heaven into our hearts. In it we are reminded that we are part of something bigger than we thought, that began before we were, and will continue long past our little window of earthly life. It is a testament that although the news of sin is bad - God has a better news in the cross of Jesus! He has a most excellent way and he wants to break into your life and literally snatch you from Satan and lead you in His arms to a new, better, and eternal life! For the sake of Christ and his suffering and death, that it might not be in vain; For the sake of the world; For the sake of the church; For the sake of your family; For the sake of your own most precious life… Come and share in THE STORY! 31 weeks starting September 9th! In the second week of August Mrs. Angela Scheller (above left) gave her resignation letter after five years of MOST FAITHFUL service as our teacher at The Lutheran Academy.  The Lord is opening other doors in her life.  That is a blessing for her, but a fearful thing for our Board of Directors.  We have been SO BLESSED with Mrs. Scheller that we had to trust the Lord mightily to find a comparable replacement.  God was faithful!  After a very fast but thorough search, Ms. Heather Luklanchuck (above center) accepted an offer to be our teacher!  We are VERY excited to have her join our ministry team.  We are also DOUBLE blessed that Mrs. Scheller will be training her in for the first month of classes along with Mrs. Lori Mandile (above right)!  Please keep Thursday, October 4th at 7pm on your calendar for our farewell reception for Mrs. Scheller (held at the Academy.)

THE LUTHERAN ACADEMY AND IMMANUEL PRESCHOOL NEWS!!!

Why send a child to The Lutheran Academy? How is it different than a public school?

THE NURTURE OF THE BEAUTIFULAs a Classical, Christian school we can teach beyond simply the ABCs and addition and subtraction. We can teach these subjects as being more than simply tools for getting what you want in life. As we learn and observe about the world, we strive to actually teach and form the minds and hearts of our students so that they understand these things as the gifts of God. We can teach that the design of a bird's feathers, the soaring melody, the ABCs and the product of 1 and 2 being 3, are actually of God… and are BEAUTIFUL! Not only are THESE things beautiful, but each and every one of these CHILDREN are beautiful. Each one is precious in the sight of God, created and redeemed by His blood! PLEASE PRAY for the Academy staff as we strive to accomplish this! It is a most beautiful privilege!

Share the news of the Academy and Preschool! There is still plenty of room for more students!

On the first day of class (Sept. 5), Mr. Borchin is here pictured at the

conclusion of chapel introducing some of the new students at The Lutheran

Academy! Please pray for our 10 students this year! Please pray for more students - as our goal is 15!

Isaiah 35:4-6 (ESV) Say to those who have an anxious heart,"Be strong; fear not!

Behold, your Godwill come with vengeance,

with the recompense of God.He will come and save you."

5Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,

and the ears of the deaf unstopped; 6then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy.

WE GIVE THANKS FOR THE SERVICE OF KEVIN AND MEREDITH WOOLVERTON. After moving to Mechanicsburg in the Spring, Kevin attempted to maintain his relationship with Peace and his duties as President. But after getting obtaining a job it became too difficult. On August 26th he gave this letter:

To Peace Council and Congregation.          This letter is my personal notice to you that I have resigned as church council president here at Peace Lutheran Church. With your blessing, my last offical day will be today August 26, 2012. I have prayed over this decision for quite some time, and the Lord made it known to me that it is time to move on. The job that I now have does not give me the time to come to church at this time. I have tried to do the commute and take care of church business up until now. But now it is time to move on. Meredith and I will miss our 16-year church home dearly, and will continue to pray for the congregation to grow in accordance with God's plan. I have grown so much spiritually here at Peace. I have made many friendships that will last forever. I consider you all family. This is not goodbye. My children and grandchildren will bring me back to Scranton quite frequently and as we visit we will also be at church service. I feel confident that Peace will continue to grow and run well under the guidance of Vice President Chad Tyk.I would consider it my honor and pleasure to assist the congregation in any way as you make this transition.I can be reached at 570.815-1181.

Your's truly;Kevin Woolverton

PEACE NEWS AND NOTESRACHELLE and MIKE PAULUCCI are rejoicing at the birth of their son Michael! Please pray for the continued well being of both mother and child!

Hannah Bjornstad writes of her experience at the Lutheran Summer

Music Academy in Iowa this past July:My month at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival was one of the most amazing and spiritually affecting memories that I

have. I learned and experienced so much while was there. I heard and made music every day with church services and oncerts. I met amazing people there from students my age to our amazing faculty who just blew my mind waway with their skill and devotion to music! We spent hours in constant community with people who loved music, loeved Christ, and loved being there. Hours not spent in people's company was time spent practicing! Thank you so much to all who helped me go there this summer! It was a month that I will NEVER forget - and I hope to go again! To the Glory of God…. Hannah

THANKS TO MANY WHO HELP OUT HERE AT THE CHURCH to keep it looking nice: Judy Herie has been faithful in cutting the lawn while Jerry Cornog trims the lawn. Tom Jones tends to the garden under the crosses while Elsie Schweitzer shops for all the necessary bulbs to keep the church lighted… Lee Electric also finished the electrical rewiring through the walls of the sanctuary!

+++++++++++++++++++++These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. - John 16:33

WORSHIP AND SPIRITUAL LIFEat Peace Lutheran ChurchTHIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH begins our exciting new Fall programs!

Our Sunday Schedule is as follows: + 8:15 Worship with Holy Communion + 9:15 Education Hour for Adults and Children + 10:30 Worship Celebration (with Holy Communion 1st and 3rd Sundays/month)

Introducing "THE STORY"!THE NEW BIBLES AND CURRICULUM FOR SEPTEMBER LAUNCH HAVE ARRIVED! You can actually pick YOUR Bible up at church! There are 31 chapters - one chapter for each week for the 31 weeks following Sept. 9th! THIS SPECIAL edition Bible is Chronologically ordered and is intended to give you a fabulous sweep through the (REAL) "Story" of Salvation. The good news is that the parts of the Bible which have a tendency to "bog" a person down (like genealogies) have been excised out for your reading pleasure! The further good news is that all our Bible Studies and Sunday School Lessons and Sermons will have as their subjects the very chapters that everyone will be reading!
