The Department of Education(DepEd) is the principal agency of the government responsible for education and manpower development. As embodied in Executive Order No.117, s. 1987, the Department is primarily responsible for the formulation, planning, implementation and coordination of the policies, plans, programs and projects in the areas of formal education at the elementary and secondary levels. It is likewise will mandated to supervise all educational institutions, both public and private; and provide for the establishment and integrated system of education relevant to national development goals. Peace Education is a Special Program of the Department of Education that aims to promote peace in our classrooms and the schools as zones of peace.

The Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPPI) is a government agency mandated under Executive Order 125, s. 1993 and E. O. No. 3, s. 2001, to manage and coordinate the implementation of the Philippine comprehensive peace process. This broad endeavor consists of socioeconomic and political reforms to address the root causes of internal armed conflicts;(ii) consensus-building and empowerment for peace; (iii) peaceful, negotiated settlement with the rebel group; (iv) reconciliation, reintegration into the mainstream society , and rehabilitation of former combatants and victims of armed conflict; (v) addressing concerns arising from continuing armed hostilities; and (vi) building and nurturing a positive climate conducive to peace, particularly through peace education and advocacy.

• their desire for peace,• nonviolent alternatives for managing

conflict, and• skills for critical analysis of structural

arrangements that produce and legitimize injustice and inequality.
