RAMBLIN REPORT Happenings Thank you very much to Larry and Mary Schmuhl for being the reporters. The February campout was held February 14-18 with early bird on the 13th at the Good Sams of Florida Winter rally at the North Florida Fairgrounds in Talla- hassee, Florida. The rally was attended by Ken and Sherrie Risberg and George and Lorretta Redderoth who parked with staff, Don and Tressa Dish- man and John and Sue Johnson who parked with Getaway Sams, and Larry and Mary Schmuhl and Jack and Pat Dean who parked with Sunset Ramblers. Ken is back to being in charge of facilities so they arrived the Thursday before the rally started so he could meet with the fairgrounds staff on Friday to make sure we had the tables and chairs we needed for the rally. George and Lorretta were scheduled to arrive on Friday but had a tire blow out just 7 miles into the trip. They got the tire replaced, spent the night at home and had a safe journey to camp on Saturday. Tuesday, brought the early birds, Don, Tressa, John and Sue. George and Lor- retta helped in the kitchen. Ken welcomed the vendors and the chapter raffle participants. Sherrie had her camera in hand and helped where ever she was needed. We did not have any winners at Samgo that night. Wednesday, Larry and Mary arrived and were parked on the island between two roads. Jack and Pat arrived a short time later and were parked next door. They had water and electric and a very short walk to the buildings for registra- tion, vendors and other activities. Wednesday afternoon, Sue and Tressa played Hand and Foot. Tressa took 2nd place-way to go Tressa!. That evening we had opening ceremonies followed by entertainment. We were well repre- sented in the chapter flag parade. Jack and Pat carried Sunset Ramblers, John and Sue carried North Florida Lifetime Sams and Tressa and Sheila carried Getaway Sams. There was lots of dancing to the music. Thursday morning bright and early Pat, Tressa, Lorretta and Sherrie attended the first timers meeting. Soon it was door prize winning day. Larry won wire ties and Jack got a blanket. We had hot dogs at lunch time plus visits to the vendors. All of us “donated” to the Samgo pots as we had fun playing. Friday was ice cream day. Larry, Mary, Jack and Pat ventured into town to find Bruesters. The rest of us enjoyed the rally ice cream social. Unfortunate- ly, Don and Tressa’s awning had an issue when they put it out and a nasty wind gust caused it to fail completely. The wonderful folks at Camping World of Tallahassee brought over a ladder and took it down for them. The kettle corn vendor arrived and the fairgrounds had a wonderful sweet smell. We checked out the indoor chapter flea market. Camping Tips

Bring plenty of plastic waste disposal bags. The heavy duty kind are best because you may need to store them in your RV until you reach a waste disposal area.

band which had the place rocking. Saturday began with the usual coffee and donuts and a car show on the premis-es. Everyone enjoyed checking out the cars. Mary, Pat and George built and entered a Mardi Gras themed table decorating contest. Mary had found a bear at the flea market and he agreed to be part of the decorations. We did not win, but all the entrants were great. Sherrie taught a class on making Boggy Creek bears. Max and Jill Campbell joined Ken and Sherrie, Jack and Pat, and Larry and Mary for dinner at Kayce’s Buffet. The fried green tomatoes were deli-cious. Lorretta did not feel good so they stayed in. Lorretta and George won a chapter raffle and took home a folding wagon. The entertainment that night was a gospel group who mixed popular music in with the spiritual music. Af-terward, the always anticipated door prize giveaway began. Tressa won a step-ladder which might help installing a new awning. Too soon, it was Sunday. Time to dump the tanks, go home and get ready for the March campout and the spring rally at the Okeechobee KOA. We did not hold a meeting. Thank you for the great support of the monthly food bank collection. Please be sure to make you reservations for each cam-pout as soon as possible-it helps the campground know how many of us are planning on coming. Please continue to pray for each other-that’s what helps bind us together as a chapter family.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE OR ARE NOT COMING TO ALL CAMPOUTS. Please send Rich Gavin, wagon master and Pat Dean, presi-dent, an email, or make a phone call with your plans. Communication is im-portant. Campgrounds ask questions, people get worried when you don’t come at your normal time. Their email addresses and telephone numbers are on the front page. Thanks for your cooperation in letting them know your plans. Campouts are held Friday-Sunday with early birds on Thursday or earlier if desired. Please try very hard to make your reservations at least 30 days in ad-vance.

During the January camp out I moved from Don and Tressa’s house to Bruce and Janet Duvall’s house. Soon it was time to leave for the Tampa Super Show where I fell in love with my Geico friends. We did not do much other traveling as Bruce had prostrate surgery so I helped watch over him during his recovery.
