promote awareness on Conservation of Petroleum Products, with Trip to

Dear Sir,

Conservation of Pet roleum products and environment protection is an important Nat ional

Cause for our country. The Hon'ble Prime Minister, in his address in 'Ma nn Ki Baa t ' has

ca lled upon citizens, not to use Petrol or Diese l one day in a week.

It is our endeavour to reach out to young sensitive minds to carry forward the message of

fuel conservation. We believe that this can be best achieved by giving opportunity to these

creative minds to express themselves in colour and words. With this objective in mind,

Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) has been successfully conducting

competitions on a national level for school children with your cooperation.

The national leve l winners are felicitated in a grand function at Delh i by Hon' ble Min ister of

Petroleum & Natural Gas and are also taken on a foreign trip.

This year, we target to reach every nook and corner of the country. A nationwide painting

competition in 2 ca tegories, Essay competition in 23 Languages, and a quiz competition,

have been launched, commencing from 15 July 2017. A Web Portal and a Mobi le App for

schools to participate in the above competitions have been developed. Detailed

instructions for conducting the competitions are ava ilable on this porta l

www. pcracompetit ions.org and are also attached herewith.

The awards for the competition have been made very attractive this year in the form of

Cash Prize, Laptops, and a study tour to Singapore. We shall indeed be grateful if you issue

suitable instructions to the concerned officers to ensure enro lment of every school with

PCRA and to ensure conduct of the competition in every school. A personal follow-u p at

your level wo uld boost the morale of officers involved in thi s process and ensu re wider

participation.

PCRA National Competitions-2017 Essay, Painting & Quiz

Petroleum Conservation Research Association, under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Govt. ofIndia, is committed to make oil conservation a National Movement. As a part of its mandate, various literary and cultural events are conducted for school students. The Essay writing, Painting and Quiz competitions aim to raise awareness among youth about practical conservation tips for the conservation of Petroleum products in industrial, transport, agriculture and domestic sector, and how to practice such conservation in their daily lives.

For effective communication, students may choose to present their ideas and messages for conserving petroleum products and reducing emission, in English, Hindi or Regional languages.

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

1. The decision of the Jury/Expert committee will be final and binding in respect of all matters concerning the competition.

2. Plagiarism will lead to cancelation of entry. 3. In case the participation in a particular language is very low, the prize winning entries shall be evaluated by an

expert/ jury, appointed by PCRA. If the best entries do not conform to the general standard of entries in other la nguages, PCRA rese rves its ri ghtto rationalize the prizes for that pa rticu lar language. The decision of PCRA in this regard will befinal and binding.

4. The essay & painting entries submitted would be the sole property of PCRA, with right to use and right to edit for any purpose itconsidersappropriate.

2. It is mandatory forthe Schools to conduct the competition in school premises in a fair manner. Itis requested that

all eligible (or maximum number of) student s take partin this competition, as this is in National interest. 3. Eligibility: Two categories: a. Students of classes 5, 6 & 7 (Junior)

b. Students of classes 8, 9 & 10 (Senior) 4. School toconductcompetitions in anyone or both the categories. 5. Use only A3 size artsheet. The work may be executed using pencils, pencil colours, crayons, water colours etc.

6. Topic: Small steps of fuel conservation can make a big change.

SCHOOL QUIZ COMPETITION INSTRUCTIONS

application PCRA-Competitions available on Android/IDS Platforms. 3. It is mandatory for the Schools to conductthe competitions in school premises in a fair manner. It is requested that

all eligible (maximum number of) students take the online quiz, as it will add to thei r knowledge and is in National

interest. 4. Eligibility: Students of classes 8, 9 & 10. 5. Questions shal l pertain to Ag riculture, Conservation, Petroleum, Environment, Transport, General Studies and

other categories. 6. The schools shal l register the names of all Students against the schoollD on the portal www.pcracompetitions.org.

Al l the students can then participate as Ind ividuals in First Round. Each student sha ll be given a time limit of 10

m in utes to attem ptthe quiz of 10 9 uestions . 7. Software will selectthetwo bestscoring participants, who will form the School team. 8. The School team (two best scoring participants) shall then participate in the second round or District level round,

by logging in the portal, in school premises itself. This round will have 15 questions with a time limit of 10 minutes.

The last date for partici pating at Distri ct level is 15 th Sep. 2017.

9. The best school team (winner) at District IE~vel shal l be informed by email by PCRA. This team shal l participate in

third round by logging in the portal, in school premises itself, to compete for becoming State Level Winners . This

round will have 30 questions with a time lim itof 15 minutes 10. The Window for State level shall open on 2Oth.Sep 2017. The last date fo r participating at State level is 27th. Sep

2017.

11. The State Level winners (school team) shall participate in offline Zonal Rounds for deciding the Zonal Finalists.

Thesefinalists shall be invited for Zona l round . The date and venue shall be advised by Email tothe schools. 12. The Zonal Finalists will be invited to participate atthe National Finals.
