• It is important to share all alternative methods of healing and alternative medication with your primary practitioner or naturopath.

Descriptive Medical Terms

• Hepatic Panel – Liver blood enzyme test to detect liver disease. (ALT)

• Gastroenterologist – A physician that specializes in digestive disorders including diseases of the liver.

• MT – Medical Technologist

• Phlebotomist – A skill professional that collect laboratory specimens

• CNA- Certified Nursing Assistant

• PCT – Patient Care tech

• Dual Diagnosis – The patient has been infected or diagnosed with two different diseases (ex. Hepatitis with HIV)

• Health Broker – A health care professional that links other healthcare discipline together.

• Patient – A person that has received or is receiving services from a health professional

• Client – A person that is not yet received services

• Fat- Soluble – Vitamins or materials that the body stores in the organs or tissues.

Descriptive Medical Terms• Hepatitis – Inflammation of the liver • Jaundice – Liver enzymes that leak into the blood causing

yellowish discolorations of the eyes, skin, and finger nail beds.• Ascites – Fluid that surrounds the abdominal cavity that causes the

abdomen to swell. May cause pressure on the other surrounding organs.

• SOB – Shortness of Breath• Edema – Swelling caused by fluid in the extremity. • Cirrhosis – Liver damage caused by over repair of the liver that

split. The liver will then produce scare tissue causing hardening of the liver.

• CLF – Congestive Liver failure, The liver blood flow backup (retards) and can not progress through the arteries that feed the liver. This can cause for the blood to sit on the liver but not in the liver. this is usually caused by congestive heart failure (CHF)

• Bile – Digestive substance (brown) that is secreted by the liver to aid in the absorption of fats

Liver functions •Your liver a valuable tool to health living. •Your body depends on your liver to detox itself from harmful material that is digested such as drugs, processed foods, contaminated water sources, and products that are applied to the skin for cosmetic purposes•According to liverfacts.com, Your liver is about 8in wide, 6.5in long, and 4.5in thick. A healthy liver weighs about 3.5lbs. •The liver is the largest solid organ that sits underneath the ribs in the upper region of the abdomen, just below the diaphragm. •The liver secretes bile into the system that will aid in the absorbs of fats and other fat-soluble vitamins (A,D,E,K).

Cirrhosis •Cirrhosis of the liver is defined as the hardening of the outer layer of the liver. •Cirrhosis can be caused by an unhealthy diet, which can result also into a fatty liver, chronic drug usage, and most common chronic alcoholism. •The liver will begin to spit causing injury to the organ. The body will send natural healing substances to the organ to heal it. The liver enzymes will aid in the healing. The only difference is that it become chronic (long-term) causing scare tissue.•The groves or “bumps” is cirrhotic tissue.

Fatty Liver • Fatty liver is a result of a unbalanced diet. The patient in this case has consumed high a fatty diet over a period of years.

•The liver produces bile to get rid of the excess fats that are in the diets. The main ingredient in high fatty foods are hydrogenise oils, which makes liquids become solids.

•Hydronated oil are added in margarines, lard, natural dairy products, and other processed foods. Stay away from these foods.

• fatty livers are most common in patients that are considered obese.

•Fatty livers can result in cancers and CLF (congestive liver failure)

Hepatitis A•Hep A - Can be transmitted through the fecal-oral route. It come from food-handlers not washing their hand when preparing food for the general public. There are vaccinations to prevent the spread or inoculation of this virus.

•The vaccination are in two-steps; which can protect the patients for 25 years after vaccination.

•Hepatitis B and C are transmitted by contaminated bodily fluids such as blood, semen, urine, etc that make contact with through open sores or micro cuts into the blood stream. •Hepatitis D is causes by having Hepatitis B (progression in disease)•Hepatitis E comes from contaminated Water and PORK LIVER and fecal-Oral route (unwashed hands).•The symptoms vary due to the body own immune system response. Most have reported symptoms within a 2 week period from exposure. •Most symptom according to webmd.com are •Headaches•Fevers•Nausea •Vomiting •Abdominal Pain •Ascites (blotting of the abdomen)•Jaundice (yellowing of the skin)

Naturopathic Treatment • The main portion of the treatment

includes the patient diet • Controlling the patients diet may aid in

conventional healing or aid the body in reserving or slowing down the disease.

• There are naturopathic treatment may include

• Milk thistle 100-300 mg caps • Leafy greens 2 serving a day (lunch

and dinner) to aid in detoxing • Fresh beet and carrot juice for beta-

carotene binding of detoxs (Vit A)• Parsley leaf to prevent swelling

Naturopathic Treatment

• Fresh water (from a pure source, most bottled waters contain arsenic compounds) filters can be purchased at the local market.

• Fresh air

• Organic food preferred because of the growing practices

• Sun baths (at least 15-20min) to promote Vit D metabolism and it prevents depression.

• lymphatic massage to help rid the body of left over toxins

• Licorice root, cloves, fugi, pink lady, monarch apples.

• Yoga stretches at least 20 minutes a day (preferred AM sunrise)
