Project Description: This is a three-year randomized controlled study examining the impact of teaching pediatric residents “brief negotiation” communication skills to help change negative health behaviors (such as medication adherence, exposure to tobacco smoke, diet, exercise) in their patients with asthma and obesity. I will be involved in curriculum development and refinement, development of pre and post-test standardized patient encounters and evaluation of these tapes using a standardized scoring format as well as manuscript preparation.
