FUNCTIONS OF PATA Pacific Travel Conference and Workshop
• PATA sponsors and organize a conference with the objectives of reviewing the progress, exchanging ideas and planning for future programmes.
• These meetings are held at different areas.• It serves as a unique promotional tool for the host
government providing an opportunity to the travel

• THE PATA AWARD OF MERIT: is given to individuals who have consistently contributed to the Association and the PATA chapter network over an extended period

Founded in Rome, 1966 By merging of the International Federation
of Travel Agencies(IFTAA), and the Universal Organization of Travel Agent’s Association(UOTAA)

ADMINISTRATION The Annual General Assembly of UFTAA is the

AIMS To act as the negotiating body with the various
branches of tourism and travel industry on behalf of its members and also in the interest of the public

To offer to its member all the necessary professional and technical advice and assistance in matters concerning their trade
MISSION
UFTAA’s mission is to be an international forum where matters affecting the world travel industry are addressed, representing and
defending the interests of incoming and outgoing tour
operators, travel and tourism agencies before the governmental
bodies, suppliers and other entities of international scope. It also aims
at strengthening its members’ image and enhances the world
travel and tourism industry and a sustainable tourism.
FUNCTIONS• To unite and consolidate the Federations of Travel Agent’s a
National Associations and to globally enhance the interests of their members
• To represent the travel agent’s activities before various world-wide bodies, governmental authorities and suppliers
• To work towards the adoption of measures that will ease travel for the consumer and to offer services to its member federations
• To be an investigation and information Centre supporting the member Federation’s work and to offer information for technological development
• To organize a world congress of travel agents and other meetings necessary to the exchange and transmission of knowledge.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF UFTAA
• It has created a set-up to start international correspondence courses for training the air line agency sale staff
• Formulation of professional training courses and introduction of rail-inclusive tours
• Created an international convention, set regulations/rules for booking in hotels and defined procedures for cancellation of such booking
• The Federation has tied up with the IATA in regard to air transport
