Single Button Operation and WiringThe Gate Limit Relay Kit modifies the radio input, allowing aradio control, such as a remote transmitter, to open and closea gate.

RELAY TO S3 BOARD CONNECTION1 TURN ON operator power switch.2 Give the operator an open command to fully open the

gate.3 TURN OFF operator power switch.4 Route relay Gray, Green, and Blue wires to connector

J1 and J2 on S3 controller board.5 Connect Gray wire to terminal J1-3.6 Connect Green wire to terminal J1-4.7 Locate the Open Limit switch by looking for which

switch is being pressed by its cam. Find which wire(Orange or Purple) is connected to the switch. If Orange wire is connected to Open Limit switch, using the provided tap connector, connect the Bluerelay wire to the Orange wire going to terminal J2-8 onthe S3 board (see Figure 2).If Purple wire is connected to Open Limit switch, using a provided tap connector, connect the Blue relaywire to the Purple wire going to terminal J2-7 on theS3 board (see Figure 2).

RELAY TO RADIO TERMINAL (R2) CONNECTION1 Route relay Red and Brown wires to Radio terminal

inside the operator.2 Remove the existing Brown wire from terminal R2

and insert through the plastic tubing (supplied); thenconnect to relay Brown wire terminal. Pull tubing overthe wire terminals to cover bare terminal sections.

3 Connect relay Red wire to terminal R2.

TEST THE SINGLE BUTTON OPERATIONBefore you start, review the wiring carefully. Then secure thewires to the harness assembly using the supplied cable ties.

1 Set SW1-1 on S3 board to ON (close); refer to Figure 1and Figure 11. Then TURN ON operator power switch.

2 Activate your radio transmitter and verify that the opengate closes and that the closed gate opens.

NOTE: Activating radio transmitter must have no effectduring gate opening and must open the gate furing gateclosing.3 Re-install access panel or the cover on the operator.

Shadow Loop Operation and WiringThe Gate Limit Relay Kit allows the Safety Loopinput to be used with Shadow Loops. Whenactivated by a vehicle, a Shadow Loop prevents afully open gate from closing. It has no effect if gateis closed or between the limits.

RELAY TO S3 BOARD CONNECTION1 TURN ON operator power switch.2 Give the operator an open command to

fully open the gate.3 TURN OFF operator power switch.4 Disconnect the Brown wire from the relay

assembly. NOTE: Brown wire can beused in relay to shadow loop connection(see below).

5 Route relay Gray, Green, and Blue wiresto connector J1 and J2 on S3 controllerboard.

6 Connect Gray wire to terminal J1-3.7 Connect Green wire to terminal J1-8.8 Locate the Open Limit switch by looking for

which switch is being pressed by its cam.Find which wire (Orange or Purple) isconnected to the switch. If Orange wire is connected to OpenLimit switch, using the provided tapconnector, connect the Blue relay wire tothe Orange wire going to terminal J2-8 onthe S3 board (see Figure 2).If Purple wire is connected to OpenLimit switch, using a provided tapconnector, connect the Blue relay wire tothe Purple wire going to terminal J2-7 onthe S3 board (see Figure 2).

RELAY TO SHADOW LOOP DETECTORCONNECTION

1 Connect relay Red wire to Shadow LoopDetector’s normally open relay contact.

2 Connect Brown wire from Shadow LoopDetector’s common relay contact toTerminal R1 (or J1-5).

Figure 12: Shadow Loop Wiring Schematic

TEST THE SHADOW LOOP OPERATIONBefore you start, review the wiring carefully. Thensecure the wires to the harness assembly using thesupplied cable ties.

1 TURN ON operator power switch.2 Give an open command to fully open the

gate, if the gate is not already fully open.3 Activate the Shadow Loop by placing a large

metallic object (large can, tool box, etc.) onthe Shadow Loop.Be ready to remove the oject if gate starts toclose.

4 Give a close command for the operator toclose the gate. Verify that the gate does notclose while the object is on the loop.

5 Remove the object and repeat steps 2through 4 using a vehicle as metallic object.

6 Remove vehicle and re-install access panel orthe cover on the operator.

Courtesy Light Operation and WiringThe Gate Limit Relay Kit can be used to accommodate acourtesy light. When the gate opens, the courtesy lightturns on and lights up the gate area. The relay canaccommodate up to 10A at 110VAC or 24VDC.

RELAY TO S3 PCB CONNECTION1 Make sure that the gate is fully closed.2 TURN OFF operator power switch.3 Disconnect the Green wire from the relay

assembly.4 Route relay Gray and Blue wires to connector J1

and J2 on S3 controller board.5 Connect Gray wire to terminal J1-3.6 Locate the Close Limit switch by looking for

which switch is being pressed by its cam. Findwhich wire (Orange or Purple) is connected tothe switch. If Orange wire is connected to Close Limitswitch, using the provided tap connector, connect the Blue relay wire to the Orange wiregoing to terminal J2-8 on the S3 board (seeFigure 2).If Purple wire is connected to Close Limitswitch, using a provided tap connector, connectthe Blue relay wire to the Purple wire going toterminal J2-7 on the S3 board (see Figure 2).

RELAY TO COURTESY LIGHT CONNECTION

WARNINGTo prevent possible INJURY:! SHUT OFF the courtesy light power circuit before

wiring connections.

Cut off terminals from relay Red and Brownwires; then connect wires to courtesy light andcircuit power using wire nuts (see Figure 13).
