The StaffX-Rite’s Color Experts come from a commercial photography background, have vast experience with digital image retouching, and benefitfromX-Rite’sdepthofcolorknowledge.Mostimportantly,theyspecialize in the complete color management workflow, from display to print; ensuring each image accurately represents the original sample.

The EquipmentX-Rite uses leading edge and essential color management equipment throughout the entire digital capture workflow to provide the most accuratedigitalfinishcaptures.Camerasareprofiledtoensuretruecolor is captured, spectrophotometers are used to calibrate displays for accurate viewing, and the X-Rite color editing process results in a color accurate reproduction. Each image is properly cropped and saved inthecustomer’spreferredfileformat.Ourprocessusesfullspectrumlighting and a light booth that simulates daylight (D50) for viewing prints, the same lighting that is natively used in 20-20 software.

The CaptureThe Digital Finish Capture process always starts with a conversation to fully understand the customer’s goals, workflow requirements, and desired outcome. Next, X-Rite’s highly controlled process begins by capturing accurate sizes, colors, and textures. After color-managing the image, it is edited and either cropped for rendering at the pattern repeat, or resized for use in print or web. All images are tested internally at X-Rite before they are sent to the customer. If the image is going to be used in 20-20 software, X-Rite will create the integration spreadsheetindicatingimagesize,materialclass,andfinish.

Colormanagementisusedthroughouttheprocess,startingwiththeveryfirstcapture,aColorChecker® Digital SG.

RawimagesareprocessedwithanICCprofile,keepingcolorconsistent.Imageresolutionscanrangefrom300ppito150ppidependingoncustomer’sspecificneeds.

All samples are placed under a Macbeth light booth for ultimate control and consistency, images are edited using color calibrated wide gamut graphic displays.
