Registering online is a great way to save time and gas and can be accessed 24 hours a day. To register online, just follow these simple steps:

- Click on the left side link to create an account with your household name, providing us with emergency contacts, allergy/medical information and more so we can serve you better. It is recommended that you do not “opt out” of email notifi-cations since it is a way to notify you of changes and cancellations, and don’t forget to enter your cell number with the carrier so we can text you with any last minute changes.

- Be sure to add all the members of your household into the account.

Registrations cannot be accepted over the phone or at the class site. All fees and league deposits for youth, teen, adult and family programs are non-refundable unless a program is cancelled. If false information is given on a registration form, you will be asked to leave the program with no refund. Programs are open to all New Milford residents. Non-residents may register for most programs, depending on availability or as otherwise noted at an additional cost of $10.00.

Individuals who submit an invalid check for a Parks and Recreation program will be charged an additional $15.

TOWN PARKS

Town GreenThe New Milford Town Green is locat-ed on Main Street and boasts of being the prettiest Green in New England. It consists of a passive open space with a picturesque bandstand. The Green can be used by New Milford non-profit organizations if applied for and approved by the Parks & Recre-ation Commission. Alcohol is allowed by permit only at this location. Band-stand use is permitted until 9:00 pm.

Lynn Deming ParkLynn Deming Park opens on the Sat-urday of Memorial Day Weekend, and closes on Labor Day. There is no al-cohol allowed in the Park. Animals, of any kind, are not permitted in the park. Smoking is not permitted on the beach. Complete copies of the Park Rules are available at the Park entrance or at the Parks and Recre-ation Office. A park pass is required. Directions: Route 7 north, left on to 134 Candlewood Lake Road North. Park is approximately 1 mile on the right. A PARK PASS IS REQUIRED TO GAIN ACCESS.

Lynn Deming Park Opens Saturday, May 26134 Candlewood Lake Road NorthPark Hours: One-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset each day.Lifeguard Hours (May 26-June 22) Weekdays 12:00 pm-6:00 pmWeekends 11 am – 6:00 pm(June 23-Labor Day)11:00 am -6:00 pm each day*Lifeguards are on duty to enforce park rules and regulations, but par-ents are ultimately responsible for the safety of their child. Swimming after lifeguard hours is dangerous!

VEHICLE AND BOAT LAUNCH STICKERS

Pre-Season Sale Just for Seniors! Beat the summer hassle of waiting in line at Lynn Deming. If you are 65+, come to New Milford Parks & Recre-ation (JJPCC, 2 Pickett District Road, NM) May 7 to May 18 for your free 2018 park sticker (one per household). You must be a New Milford resident/taxpayer. Bring the vehicle you will be using and your driver’s license and car registration.

Vehicle and boat launch stickers are sold daily at Lynn Deming Park from 8:00AM – 8:00PM. The cost is $50. per vehicle for residents, with resi-dent boat launch stickers being $125. (No boat launch available to non-res-idents.) Day Passes for residents/$10. per per-son/per day (walk-in residents are free), non-residents/$25. per person/per day. Day passes can only be pur-chased at the Parks & Recreation Of-fices, JPCC, 2 Pickett District Road, NM between the hours of 7:30am-4pm (M-F). Day passes are good for any day of the season, and will be col-lected at the gate the day of use. NO DAY PASSES WILL BE SOLD AT THE GATE OF LYNN DEMING. Gate attendants are on duty all hours from May 26– Labor Day and week-ends thru September. Alcohol and tobacco products are prohibited in the park. Park rules are available at the Park entrance or at the Parks and Recreation office. Directions: Route 7 North, left to 134 Candlewood Lake Road North. Park is on the right.

Kayak/Canoe Rack Rentals will now be offered at Lynn Deming Park for the season. The cost for each rack rental is $50. Please contact New Mil-ford Parks & Recreation for additional information at (860) 355-6050.

New for 2018! Hourly rental of a kay-ak, a paddleboard, and a 4-person pedal boat will be available at Lynn Deming Park. Information will be available soon!

Carlson’s GroveVery picturesque picnic area and play-ground are on this site along the East Aspetuck River. Picnic tables, a park pavilion, grills, fishing, and a field for passive-active recreation, plus a park-ing area are located at this site. Alco-hol is allowed by permit only at this site. Park opens one half hour before sunrise, and closes one hour after sun-set. Directions: Route 202 to 10 Whea-ton Road and the Park is on the right after the bridge.

Addis ParkPicnic area on the Housatonic River with a boat launch ramp. Opens one half hour before sunrise and closes

one half hour after sunset (except ac-cess to boat launch). Directions: Route 67 to 220 Grove Street. A PARK PASS IS REQUIRED.

Baldwin ParkWalking trail with native flowers and plants. Closes one half hour after sun-set. Directions: Route 202 to Hipp Road, the park is on the left behind Schaghti-coke School. Park your car and follow the path to the start of the trail.

Clatter ValleyApproximately 100+ acres of open space for outdoor recreational activ-ities, including horseback riding, cross country skiing, fishing, tobogganing, a hiking trail and a pond. There is a pub-lic pavilion with picnic tables available for reserved group use. Alcohol is al-lowed by permit only at this site. Park opens one half hour before sunrise, and closes one half hour after sun-set. Directions: Rt. 67, turn right on to Grove Street, left on to Hine Hill Road. At the stop sign take a right to 158 Town Farm Road. Park is on the right.

Hulton MeadowSmall (3.69 acres) landscaped area along the East Aspetuck River with benches and picnic tables. Rte. 202 south to Grove Street, right turn onto Mill Street (small parking area at the bridge).

Young’s FieldAn active recreation area which offers a skate park, tennis courts, basketball court, tot lot playground, pavilion, and multi-use athletic fields. A kayak ramp, riverwalk and fishing dock are located across the street on the Housatonic River. Directions: Bridge Street to 6 Young’s Field Road.

Andrew Gaylord Barnes ParkSmall passive area along the Housa-tonic River. Route 7 north to Board-man’s Bridge at 292 Kent Road.

Ray Ramsey ParkSmall landscaped square with bench-es and a kiosk listing community events. The park is located at the junc-tion of Bridge and Railroad Streets, next to the Railroad Station.

Helen Marx ParkTwo Little League Baseball fields with an overlapping soccer field located at 91 Housatonic Avenue.

Sega Meadows ParkForty-three acres of undeveloped park land bordering the Housatonic River with a biking path, trails and fishing dock. Directions: Route 7 North, turn right onto Boardman Road, turn left onto River Road, the asphalt road turns into dirt and the park entrance will be on your left at 120 River Road.

Northville Soccer FieldsTwo full-sized soccer fields located immediately behind Northville El-ementary School at 22 Hipp Road. There is a walking trail that links the Northville Soccer Fields to Sullivan Farm. Directions: Route 202 north, turn left onto Hipp Road and turn right into the Northville School Park-ing lot. The fields are located behind the school.

TOWN PARKS

Sarah Noble Soccer FieldsA two acre parcel that contains a soc-cer field. The field may be accessed from the Sarah Noble Intermedi-ate School or from the Home Depot stairs found on the right hand side of the parking lot. The field is located on Route 7 directly behind Home De-pot (25 Sunny Valley Road).

Canterbury Pond (Conn’s Pond)A small one-acre park used for fishing and ice skating. Directions: Route 202 North on the left side Ð mile past the New Milford Police Department at Park Lane Road.

Pickett District Road Ball FieldsFour bambino-sized baseball fields on 10 acres of land at 189 Pickett Dis-trict Road. Fields located on the left past Kimberly Clark

Nostrand TrailWilderness trail through 138 acres of land at 56 Squire Hill Road. Direc-tions: Route 202 north; make a left onto Little Bear Hill Road and a right onto Squire Hill Road. Trail approx. Ð mile on the right at the top of the hill.

Chappuis ParkA 1.43 acre open meadow on the banks of the East Aspetuck River. Directions: Route 202 north; make a left onto Van Car Road and a right on to 108 Paper Mill Road. Park is on your right.

Pettibone ParkA park with a new state of the art playground, two softball fields and a multipurpose field. Directions: Route 7 south; make a left to 2 Pickett Dis-trict Road and the park is on your im-mediate right. New Milford residents may, with ap-proval of the Parks and Recreation Commission or the Director, reserve all parks with the exception of Can-terbury Pond, Nostrand Trail and Pettibone Park. Use of these parks is available 365 days per year. The Park Reservation Form may be ob-tained at the Parks & Recreation De-partment or at www.newmilford.org. During the season, Lynn Deming Park may be reserved weekdays after 1 pm and weekends after 4p.m. only. Clat-ter Valley Park and Carlson’s Grove Park are the only parks where alco-holic beverages are allowed, by per-mit only.

AQUATICS

Fall Barracudas Swim Team Barracuda Season will be September 17 thru the first week of March.

This is a competitive team and participants are expected to swim in meets. Barracuda Swim Team is NOT an instruc-tional program.

Open Registration is August 1st to August 31st and limited to 120 registrations.

PLEASE NOTE: A $50 DEPOSIT MUST BE PAID FOR YOUR REGISTRATION TO BE COMPLETE! Pay $50. DEPOSIT AUG. 1 TO AUG. 31, then pay your group fee by Sept. 7th to avoid late fee.! All fees to be paid by Sept 7th.!!

PAYMENTS AFTER SEPT. 7TH YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $50. LATE FEE! ABSOLUTELY NO REFUNDS AFTER SEPT. 7TH!!

No Swimmer may practice until all fees are paid IN FULL!

Program Information

• An excellent way to perfect swimming strokes, stay fit and build a lifelong love of swimming!

• Practice days may be M-T-W-T-F evenings with competitive meets on Saturdays

• Season runs September 17 thru the first week of March.

• Swimmers grouped by Beginner (A Group), Intermediate (B Group) and Advanced (C Group) after a try-out.

• ALL NEW SWIMMERS WILL BE SUBJECT TO A TRYOUT PRIOR TO THE SEASON STARTING. Tryouts will be announced and parents will be notified after the com-pletion of tryouts. Swimmer must be prepared to swim with cap and goggles.

• Practice takes place at Canterbury School Pool OR alternative location TBA.

• Group A-$50. Registration Fee, then $365. ($10. additional if Non-Resident) Bal-ance Due by Sept. 7. If payment made after Sept. 7, a late fee of an additional $50. will be charged!

• Group B-$50. Registration Fee, then $395. ($10. additional if Non-Resident) Balance Due by Sept. 7. If payment made after Sept. 7, a late fee of an additional $50. will be charged!

• A member of the State Line Swim League, this team places emphasis on fun and participation while also providing the opportunity for kids to compete against other area swim teams.

Swim Lessons, Summer IndoorSwimming is an essential basic skill. Life can be very limiting for a person who is fearful of the water. Learning to swim at a young age builds confidence and self-esteem and enables individuals to enjoy countless activities in and around water for an entire lifetime. PLEASE SEE THE AMERICAN RED CROSS SWIM LEVEL LINK!

• Our certified instructors teach American Red Cross classes for all ages and abilities.

• Classes are 30 minutes in length, Monday through Thursday, for three weeks.

• Thunder and Lightning is a hazard for both indoor and outdoor lessons. In the event of such weather, the water safety instructors will hold “out of water” lessons that contain important information that your child must know (“Why People Drown”, basic water safety, accident prevention, water hazards, and using the buddy system).

• Registration for Session Two is July 16-20.

• Please see attached Swim Level Requirements for additional information.

• FOR SESSION ONE: MAKE UP DATE FOR JULY 4TH HOLIDAY WILL BE FRIDAY, JULY 6!!

Swim Lessons, Summer OutdoorsSwimming is an essential lifetime skill. Life can be very limiting for a person who is fearful of the water. Learning to swim at a young age builds confidence and self-esteem and enables individuals to enjoy countless activities in and around water for an entire lifetime.

PLEASE SEE THE AMERICAN RED CROSS SWIM LEVEL LINK!

• Our certified instructors teach American Red Cross classes for all ages and abilities.

• Classes are 30 minutes in length, Monday through Thursday, for three weeks.

• Thunder and Lightning is a hazard for both indoor and outdoor lessons. In the event of such weather, the water safety instructors will hold “out of water” lessons that contain important information that your child must know (“Why People Drown”, basic water safety, accident prevention, water hazards, and using the buddy system).

• Registration for Session Two is July 16-July 20.

• PLEASE NOTE THAT PARTICIPATION IN SESSION 1 DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN AUTOMATIC SPOT IN SESSION 2. PARENTS-YOU MUST REGISTER FOR SESSION 2 WHEN CLASS REGISTRATION OPENS.

Free Swim LessonsLearning to swim is a life lesson and is so very important for personal safety. 8 Mile Road Race and 5K Run/Walk

The New Milford 8-mile Road Race is the third oldest race of its kind in the state and one of the most challenging in the area. Runners test themselves during this hilly course through rural New Milford. Held in conjunction with Village Fair Days each summer, this thrilling community event adds to the excitement and energy of the weekend.

BOTH THE 8-MILE RACE AND THE 5K RACE WILL START AT 8:30 AM. Race Day regis-tration will be from 7:00-8:00 AM! DON’T BE LATE!! REGISTRATION ON OR AFTER JULY 21ST, FEE IS $30.00

• Walking and running for fitness are good for your heart, body and soul. Walking is the number one form of recreation in the country. Health care workers everywhere are advocating the preventativeand rehabilitative benefits of walking and running.

• The emphasis of the Fair Days 5K is on fun, participation and healthy living.

• Early registrants receive t-shirts.

• Baby strollers and dogs on leash are welcome, but must begin at back of the pack.

• There is absolutely no parking around the Green during the morning of the race and there is very little parking available in the Downtown area during the Fair, so please arrive early and have an alternate plan in case you cannot find parking.

Archery! Ready, Aim, Target!Target Archery in Sega Meadows Park! Experience the sport of archery in a fun, safe and supervised environment. Four week class-Safety instructions fol-lowed by hands-on shooting on the new range. No prior experience, and bows are provided, but you must bring your own target arrows (Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ama-zon or Newberry Archery in Goshen) , and quiver (targets supplied by New Milford Parks & Recreation). An arm guard sleeve is highly recommended. Enter Sega Meadows Park at Boardman Bridge Entrance. Walk in approx. 500 yards. You will see the Archery Range in the open field. Learn the fundamentals in this instructional league that plays on Saturday mornings. (no practices are held). Soccer takes place at the HOME DEPOT FIELDS, DIRECTLY BEHIND THE STORE. Tennis, Sport of a Lifetime

Learn a game you can play for a lifetime. Through the game of tennis you can maintain fitness, enjoy the outdoors, meet new people, and discover the new you! This six-week course introduces you the fundamentals of tennis.

• Beginner: Introduction to ball control, hitting balls in an appointed direction and basic forehand and backhand strokes.

• Low Intermediate: Continued emphasis on ball control, serving, volleying and overheads, and keep-ing the ball on the court.

• Intermediate: Introduces the concept of competition, keeping the balls volleying back and forth on the court, steadiness and repetition. Possible introduction to score keeping, how to win a a game, a set, and so forth.
