Fr. Mike Freyne MHM

FR. MIKE’S 40TH ANNIVERSAY TO THE PRIESTHOOD.

Fr Mike wishes to thank the organising committee, parishioners and all who helped celebrated the 40th anniversary of his ordina-tion to the priesthood. With Bishop Stephen and 22 priests from the Dunkeld Diocese, Mill Hill Missionaries, Missio and Archdiocese of Edinburgh with a large crowd of friends and parishioners a very joyful, well sung mass was celebrated. Informality, mission and thanksgiving was

the flavour of the evening. It was wonderful to see the participation from Kate who read the Reading at his ordination; Carly from our St. Bernadette’s school the second Reading, Fr. Mike’s sisters and parishioners in the offertory procession. Great thanks goes out to the other readers, altar servers, sacristans, choir, cleaners, flower arrangement, pass-keepers and many others who behind the scenes spent hours preparing sandwiches, baking and cooking to put on a wonderful spread. So much food was supplied people were being encouraged to take bags home!! It was a wonderful parish experience and celebration. Many thanks for all the gifts, cards and especially the very unexpected cheque from the parish of £1,440!

God bless all.

Feast o f Sain ts Peter and Pau l + Ho l iday o f Obl igat ion

Sea Sunday is on 9th July when the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea.

There will be a second collection for Apostleship of the Sea, the official maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church in Britain. It provides prac-tical and spiritual support to seafarers visiting our ports. As it is wholly dependent on voluntary donations, please give generously.

For more information on the work of AoS please visit : www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk

Peter’s Pence Special Collection

Apostleship of The Sea Special Collection

Peter’s Pence Collection on 2nd July

The focus of the collection is primarily for the pope’s charitable efforts to help the poor, the homeless and those in need. The annual collection gives parishioners every-where an opportunity to actively demonstrate unity with the pope, our personal support for his mission as Vicar of Christ and a way to help our needy brothers and sisters.

It is also worth remembering that the Catholic Church is the biggest aid agency in the world.
