Parish Pastoral Centre - So close, so very close! We would like to take this opportunity to bring you up-to date regarding the opening of our Parish Pastoral Centre, which is now tantalisingly close. The postponement of our opening date, frustrating as it is, is a result of a number of factors, some due to conscious decisions made by the Buildings Committee and Finance Committee and others are down to snagging issues which the builder is now in the process of ad-dressing:
The Buildings Committee made a very late change to the layout of the kitchen
area to improve its functionality, which we are delighted to report is now complete.
The Finance Committee stalled the work towards the end, to benefit from VAT
changes introduced in the last Budget, which applies to all spending by Charities after 1st January. Following clarification from the Dioceses on publication of the Finance Bill, it turns out the quantum involved is likely to be smaller than originally anticipated.
The builder is replacing the skirting boards which are not sitting correctly.
We hope this work will be completed in the coming week. Also, there was water getting onto the cedar wood in one part of the roof area. The builder has now exposed the affected area, which will remain exposed for a few weeks to ensure we fully understand the cause. We are delighted to confirm this will not hold up the opening of the building. We expect to have a clearer position regarding an opening date in the coming days. All going to plan we hope that to be in the coming week. Prudently however, we have not scheduled any events in the Parish Pastoral Centre until the opening date is agreed and confirmed. In the interest of best practice, a Pastoral Centre Committee to oversee the operation of the Centre will be formed. We are pleased that the following have agreed to be members of that committee:
Bernie O’Connor (Chairperson), Joe Devine, Mary Fleming, Mary Gaffney, Willie Holmes, Ray McTernan & Margaret O’Neill
On the funding side I am delighted to say that we have over 90% of the finance in place, thanks to the generosity of hundreds of parishioners most of whom made and honour a monthly pledge. This financial support is deeply appreciated. If you would like to help us get our funding across the line and are in a position to make a monthly donation, please contact Fr Frank or the Chairman of the Parish Finance Committee Willie Holmes on 087 2561335, in complete confidence.

6th Sunday in Ordinary Time
“If you want to, you can cure me” the leper
challenged Jesus. “Of course I want to, be
cured” replied the Christ.
We no longer have Jesus in person travelling
from town to town healing and preaching
God’s word. Instead we, as followers of
Jesus, are given this task to carry on his
mission.
In our hearts and in our homes, at work and
in our world we strive to keep Christ’s
greatest commandment, “That you love one
another as I have loved you”
If we follow that commandment we are all on
our way to be cured, the healing begins
within us.
Mark 1:40-45
