PASTORAL COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES

The Parish Council meeting was held on Tuesday July 12, 2011 at 17:30. The following were the

council members and parishioners that attended this meeting:

Father Damian opened the meeting with a prayer. The following topics were discussed:

1.  Parish Council President SCPO Mike Rivera handed out a copy of the meeting agenda. (A copy of theagenda has been attached to the minutes for future references).

2.  Father Damian informed the council members that the Religious Education Coordinator contract andthe Music Director contract are expected to be open for applicants in mid August, while the ParishLife Coordinator contract and Deacons contract should be open for applicants at the end of August.Fr. Damian stated that as soon as he receives information on exact days, he will inform Lola Rivera to place the announcements on the parish bulletin.

3.  SCPO Rivera asked Father Damian if we could ask Sherry Wodicka to coordinate the ReligiousEducation program until the Parish contract a new Religious Education Coordinator since shecoordinated the program until the end of the year. The council members present at the meeting wereall in favor of this decision.

4.  SCPO Rivera asked Father Damian and the council members to appoint Lola Rivera as the St.Michael¶s Day Celebration 2011 coordinator. Fr. Damian and council members agreed with theappointment.

5.  Parish Council Executive positions nominations for parishioners are open. Deacon Foster will be thenominations coordinator. Nominations should be submitted to Deacon Foster via email, phone or in person. Projected date for the Installation ceremony is the first Sunday of September. These positionswill be announced in the bulletin, and website. 

6.  Deacon Foster announced that Deacon Ordination date will be on May 26 th, 2012 at 10:00am inDiocese of Savannah. Council member Kelley Culver is a Deacon candidate. Deacon Foster statedthat the Parish should rent the service of two or three buses to transport the parishioners interested inattending this important ceremony.

7.  MCCW represented by Kim Besel. Kim informed the council members that Laura Pizzi is working ongames for the Picnic on August 6th, 2011. She expressed the need of advertising more the event to getmore Parish participation. The Parish Council agreed in using Parish funds to pay for the Picnic sincethis is a Parish event.Kim Besel announced Lola Rivera as the new Pro-life chairman for MCCW. She announced that weare invited to a Pro-life dinner in August. Prices per person is $50, and reserving a table to represent

St. Michael¶s Parish is $400. Mike Rivera asked Fr. Damian if the Parish could help paying for a few people to attend this event. Father Damian said that we might be able to pay for three people.

8.  Altar Server training will be provided the first Saturday of each month from Noon to 1pm by AlexBesel.

9.  Financial Report from Tina Raby was provided by Kim Besel. Some financial discrepancies werereported. Tina is trying to fix these financial discrepancies with SPC Clouse, and Ch. Locke, and willhave more information when she returns from leave. The CRMP FY12 budget report is done and itwill be sent via email to the parish council. Tina is currently working on FY12 Calendar. 

10. Tom Dean informed the council that ³Coffee and Theology´ is off until after Labor Day in

September. Tuesday Bible Study will be on Summer break this month too.  11. Vice-President Bill Holt expressed his gratefulness to Mike Rivera and Kim Besel for coordinating a

great Volunteer Appreciation Day. He thanked Lola Rivera for editing the bulletin while she was onleave last month.

12. Fr. Damian reminded the council the importance of continuing praying for vocations. Father confirmed that the new priest, Fr. Laia should arrive the second week of August, by the 19

th. He will be the Chaplain of the Knights of Columbus Ft. Gordon Chapter. 

13. Fr. Damian closed the meeting with a prayer and blessing at 6:10pm.  14. The next Council meeting will be held at 17:30 hours on Tuesday September 13, 2011.
