SynopsisLoosely based on the story by Hans Christian
Anderson, Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, is dissatisfied with life in the sea. She longs to be with the humans on the surface and is often caught in arguments with her father over those “barbaric fish-eaters.” She swims off to meet Ursula, the Sea Witch. She strikes a deal with Ursula to become human, but Ursula has bigger plans in store for this mermaid and her father, who banished her from his kingdom many years ago…
Casting InfoCast size: 40 students maximumApproximately 20 speaking parts,
several ensemble parts availableThe ensemble/stage crew will
consist of the Sea Chorus, Sailors, Merfolk, Gulls, Chefs and Lagoon Animals.
Stage Crew info will be addressed after casting the show. Students should listen for homeroom announcements.

Applications due Friday, November 9th, 2012 to Ms. Cordeiro/Mr. Jalbert.
NO LATE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED!
Must have and maintain at least a ‘C’ average in all classes to participate.
Students must not have received an In-School or Out-Of-School suspension this year. Code of conduct must be adhered to at all times.
Student/Parent Contract Must inform us in person or by
phone/email if you will miss a [email protected]
3 unexcused absences from rehearsals will result in removal from the show.
Can be removed from show due to missed rehearsals, late pick-ups, and/or misbehavior.
Discipline record will be reviewed prior to casting any student in the show.
AuditionsNovember 9th- There will be an
audition rehearsal from 3:30-4:30. This is not a mandatory meeting, but attendance is STRONGLY recommended. Students will learn the song and get the speaking lines that will be used during the audition. Please be on time to pick up your child at 4:30.
November 14th- all students auditioning will report to the cafegymatorium after school.
Auditions will be from 3:45-??? Once students audition, they may be picked up.
Auditions are closed to all students and parents. Parents are welcome to wait in the lobby, but will not be allowed in the cafeteria.
Audition Format Students will check in at the stage at
3:30. They will be given an audition number and their application. Then they will be sent to the “holding tank” where they will wait for their turn to audition. While in the holding tank, they are encouraged to practice their songs/lines. They can practice alone or with partners/small groups. They can also work on homework at this time.
Students will be called back to the stage in groups of 10.
Students will sing the audition song solo and then read their lines either alone or with a partner/judge(s).
Audition MaterialsAll boys will receive a paper copy of
the audition song “Under The Sea.” All girls will receive a paper copy of “Part of Your World.” If students would like a copy of the accompaniment to practice with, they must bring in a blank CD-R or CD-RW and Mr. Jalbert will make a copy for them.
CD’s must have the child’s name and teacher’s name written on it. CD’s must be brought back in along with the application. CD’s will be destroyed after auditions, so you will not get them back.
Students will also receive a page of lines from the show. These lines will be used during the audition.

Important Dates Cast List will be posted November 16th in
main lobby. 1st Cast Meeting will be November 26th
from 3:45-5:30 in the music room. All Cast members must attend!
Rehearsals will begin November 27th. Rehearsals will be held from 3:45-5:30.
Not all cast members will be at every rehearsal during the first 2-3 months of rehearsal. Please pay attention to highlighted rehearsals on your child’s calendar.
Your child will receive a calendar at the meeting on November 26th with his/her specific schedule.
During the month of April, all cast and crew members will be required to attend each rehearsal scheduled. Please know that we may add rehearsals to the calendar at any time, if we feel they are necessary.
Show Dates
During tech week and dress rehearsals from May 13th-May 17th all Cast and Crew Members must attend! NO EXCUSES!!!

is a dress rehearsal and is only for BME students and staff. No public is allowed, due to limited space.
