About the college :-
Parasnath mahavidyalay,Isri Bazar is situated in Dumri sub- division of the Giridih District
of Jharkhand. This College came into existence in 16 september,1985 through the initiative
taken by group of eminent academician ,social activist & local MLA. Who recognized the
importance of higher education in development of areas. The founder of college is Prof.
Tara Charan Mishra is one of the scholar person in this area. The college is located in
middle of Giridih, Hazaribag ,Dhanbad & Bokaro District .
Parasnath mahavidyalay is affiliated by Ranchi University ,Ranchi in 1988 – 89 at first. The
College came into existence on 1994 – 95 after the bifurcation of Ranchi University &
Vinoba Bhave University,Hazaribag.The College offered only undergraduate courses in arts
& Commerce Faculty with Honours and Pass Courses.
Parasnath Mahavidyalay has a distinguished alumni body & Faculty. At Present College is
Permanently Affiliated by Vinoba Bhave University ,Hazaribag.

Opportunity :- Location advantage. Honours in 12 subjects with permanent and 1 in Commerce with temporary affiliation.
Skill development courses are provided simultaneously with the traditional under graduate programmes.

environment in the campus and to provide ample opportunities
to excel in their career.
Mission: To provide all academic support through proper
mentorship to all students to learn in the best possible manner.
To inculcate professional skill to develop a passion for better
excellence in any area for better tomorrow with self confidence.
To update technology and state of the art infrastructure, vibrant
community organization interface and continuous exposure
through different platforms to deliver.
Objectives: To transform the human capital with skill based
education to ensure employability with affordable fee structure.
The same has been communicated to all stakeholders including
staff and students through College website, Notice Board etc.

As an affiliated College under Vinoba Bhave University
(VBU), Hazaribagh, the College has no stake to design or
develop the syllabus or curriculum for any stream. But, after
implementation of CBCS pattern, the entire department
follows lesson plan and lesson note to complete the syllabus
in a particular time frame.
1.1.3 What type of support (procedural and practical) do the teachers
receive (from the University and/or institution) for effectively
translating the curriculum and improving teaching practices?
For effectively translating the curriculum and improving
teaching practices a workshop was conducted in the
“GIRIDIH COLLEGE” GIRIDIH, an constituent institution of
VBU, Hazaribagh, after implementation of CBCS pattern.
Principal also organized one Faculty Development Programme
(FDP) in the campus how to fit with the new system.

Prof. Rajni Kumari, department of Commerce has keenly
taken interest to interact with beneficiaries such as industry
and nearby Malls and also planning to invite industries and
different MNCs for campus interview to provide better
professional opportunities to the pass out students.

To inculcate moral and ethical values, different Saints are invited to the campus to deliver moral talk. As an innovative practices every class starts with two minutes meditation to bring concentration in the class rooms teaching. Yoga are also conducted mind and body concentration.

The college ensures publicity and transparency in the
admission process because the total admission is now under
the purview of the University. College publicize its
advertisement of new admission process in the print media,
website of the college and college notice board.

to various programmes of the Institution. The entire admission process is based on the merit basis and Honours are allotted to the students those seek 45% marks in the intermediate examination.

The new admission policy between the nearby colleges are
almost in same category i.e 33% percent for admission in the
pass subjects and 45% for the Honours.

Parasnath Mahavidyalaya, Parasnath is an affiliated institution under VBU,
Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. Since the inception of the college it has been trying
to enhance its infrastructure. As it is a Non-Government Aided College, it
does not get lions share from the Govt. However utmost care is taken to
ensure the funds that received from various sources. Our college has got
funds from time to time from MLA LAD Fund, MP LAD Fund and student’s
development fees. In addition to some dedicated individuals of the locality
has contributed their land and finance to facilitate the effective teaching and
learning.

Our college is situated in a Urban area. It was established by the
dedication of some benevolent persons of the locality. It was a newly
structured building when the college came into existence. But now it is one of
the best colleges in the District of Girdih, Jharkhand. It consists of enough
class rooms including Departments. Each department equipped with internet
facility at present. we have Conference Hall where students, guardians and
staff get together time to time to share their problems. We have a library
consisting of various text books, reference books, journals, magazines,
novels, encyclopedias, plays, etc. Our students and staff spend their leisure in
Library reading room. Where all kinds of books, News paper, magazine,
journals, etc are available. Botanical Gardens in the campus which represent
the beauty of nature. There are several kind of flowers with rare medicinal
plants.
b) Extra –curricular activities – sports, outdoor and indoor
games, gymnasium, auditorium, NSS, NCC, cultural
activities, Public speaking, communication skills
development, yoga, health and hygiene etc.
Our college has a small field inside the college campus
where the Annual Athletic Meet is organised. Apart
from Volleyball, Cricket and Kabaddi are played in this
field. The college has one NSS unit for which a NSS
Cell is available. We have a big platform where all the
cultural activities like Dance, Song, Mono action,
Competitions are organized. The Annual functions, , the

The institute plans its infrastructure by an engineer in accordance with the
need. Gradual and speedy growth of the college requires more and more
class rooms ,Rooms for new honours subject and new departments.
Accordingly the plan is made by an engineer whose often proper verification
of the place makes drawing of the plan.
The infrastructure is properly and optimally used. No building is lying
unused. At present the infrastructure is insufficient for the administrative
purpose. We have need of rooms for various purposes, But the need of it will
be fulfilled shortly when the infrastructure in completed under construction.

meet the requirements of students with physical disabilities?
It is a matter of regret for us that we have no enough infrastructures to
provide special facilities to meet the requirements of the students with
physical disabilities. But we take special care to ensure that those students do

disabilities to freed access to office, library and Principal chamber.

Our college does not have any dispensary inside the college premises. We
organize two to three in each year under medical experts through NSS. We
give privilege to collegiate students with health check-up facility in the
camps. A PHC is very close to our institution. In emergency we call 108
Ambulance to give medical treatment to our students.

Our college is a Non-Govt. Aided college. We have not sufficient
infrastructure to meet all the facilities as mentioned in 4.1.7. But we have a
conference hall, Where IQAC, Redressal Cell, Womens Cell, Counseling and
Career guidance, Placement unit, Health Center Congregate time to time to
discuss various problems. But we have a Canteen which caters all the items
(Hygienic) to students and staff. For staff there is a Cozy Common Room with
all facilities. Separate common rooms are available for both Boys and Girls.
Safe drinking water is available in each Common room. In addition to there
is a Acquaguard available at the central part of the campus. We have no
auditorium at present.
4.2 Library as a Learning Resource

The college library has got an advisory committee which is comprised of
three members. The members of the committee see into the matters concerned

guidance. Verification of library books ones in a year is also made under their

the opinion of the advisory committee members. The chief responsibility of
the committee members is to bring upliftment to the library.

students go there and try their level best to earn their livelihood

the importance of entrepreneurial skill which may bring success

organize Cultural Competitions like Song, Dance, and Mono
Action to increase their Artistic potentialities. We organize
an Annual Athletic Meet at the end of the session. Various
competitions like Running, High jump, Long Jump, Triple
jump, Short put through, Javelin through, Kabaddi,

end of the meet the first, second and third winners are given

competitive examinations like Banking, Police, Military and Teaching, etc.

Our institute has a “Placement Cell” consisting of senior teachers.
They motivate and inspire the students to go for higher education i.e PG,
MBA, MCA, B.Ed etc after graduation. The Cell invites the students to aware
them career opportunities after graduation. They create interest and aptitude
among students and advice them to work hard and face various competitive
examinations which will provide them confidence to get employed.

The Head of the Department in each faculty marks the students who are at risk of

their precious time and come to our college and gives proper advice to

Our college is a Non-Govt. Aided college, which is controlled by Top
Management, i.e, the Governing Body. The Governing Body is consisting of
the local MLA, Higher Land Doners and other eminent persons of the
locality. This powerful body is duly approved by the DHE, Jharkhand. The
Governing Body sits with the Principal time to time and discusses the major
problems and infrastructural development as well as academic prosperity. The
Principal takes proper steps for the all round development of the college. The
Principal distributes various portfolios among faculties like the Academic
Bursar, the Administrative Bursar, the Accounts Bursar, the Development
Committee, the Finance Committee, the Admission Committee, the

in this regard. Recently he has sanctioned Rs 10,63,400 /-(Rupees Ten Lac sixty three thousand
and four hundred. ) to build new building, Lavatory Canteen, a new cycle stand etc. The
leadership of the Principal is very much apprasing. He is the soul of the college. He carries
out the suggestions and orders of the Govt. and the Governing Body. As per the parafornia
he distributes the works among the faculty members. The Administrative Bursars monitor
the academic and infrastructure development very keenly. The Academic Bursar is very
much sincere to put his leadership in the development of teaching and learning process. He
verifies the progress register of each faculty ones at the end of each month. The Accounts
Bursar is an efficient person who very sincerely keeps the finance record and tries his level
best to co-ordinate between the Principal and the office. The eminent educationists and
social workers of the locality are extremely co-operative in the development of academic and
infrastructure of the college. The principal consults and interacts with these stakeholders
time to time to take useful suggestions for the future vision and mission of the college.

the Principal to put emphasis on the academy which is the first and

to the Academic Bursars to prepare nation plan and maintain the
progress register regularly. The Principal reviews the progress register
time to time. The Principal also advises the Heads of each Department to
monitor and watch the teaching skill of the faculty members. The
Principal himself inspects the class which creates awareness among the
faculty. The Governing Body grants academic leave to the faculty to
participate in orientation programmes, Refresher Courses, Seminars and
other workshops. It helps the faculty to enhance their teaching skill.

various works smoothly. On the whole our college indicates a proper participative

Yes. The institution has a formally stated quality policy. At the outset the quality policy is
adopted and discussed by the Governing Body which is known as the Top Management. The
Governing Body prepares the plans and project for the academic and infrastructural
development of the college at the beginning of the session. That policy is developed, driven
and deployed by the Principal and faculty members and the Governing Body reviews the
policy time to time. In addition to the IQAC of the college monitors and evaluate the entire
policy.

Yes. The institution has a perspective plan for development. It includes both academic
and infrastructural development. We focus on infrastructure within the last four years

We have supplied internet service to each department for better learning. Our faculty
members are using projectors in class rooms to attract the students. The entire campus has
the availability of WI-FI system.

committees. These committees play vital role in decision making process. They

President, the local M.L.A with talented representatives. The committee makes

The Admission Committee is formed by our Principal. The committee carries
out the rules and guidelines given by the Govt. of Jharkhand and through
University from time to time.
( c) Examination Committee :-
The Examination Committee is headed by the Principal with three
faculty members. The committee makes necessary arrangements to
conduct various class examinations like Unit Test & University
Examination.
(d) Finance Committee:
The Finance Committee consists of the Principal and five members. The Principal has given a
special charge to the Account Bursar to monitor the entire finance process. The committee
approves the Annual Budget. It supervises time to time whether everything is going on right
track.
(e) Development Committee:-
The Development Committee sits with the Principal to discuss and prepare the blue print and
master plan for the infrastructure development and its maintenance. The development Committee
puts the blue print and master plan for the approval of the Governing Body. Then the committee
does it works accordingly.
(f) Purchase Committee:-
The purchase committee buys different items of the college after the procedure of
obtaining quotations.

The Principal has formed the disciplinary committee to watch and maintained the

The Grievance Redressed and Sexual Harassment Cell consist of the Principal and
five members of the teaching staff. Two ladies teaching staff are also the members
of this cell. It looks into the grievances of the students and staff. They take
decisions to sort out the problems. The committee suggests necessary measures to
the Principal. Our students are so amiable and friendly that no sexual harassment
has been reported yet.
(i) Library Committee :-
The library Committee consists of the Principal and four Members of the Teaching
Staff and the Librarian. The Committee suggests the Principal to purchase various text
books, references books, Journals etc. They suggests the librarian to distribute the books
class wise as per the given time table. The Committee also suggests the Librarian to
maintain proper records. The Committee also takes care to keep the books in the library
in proper order.

learning. They maintain lesson plan and progress register regularly. The Heads of each
Department monitor the teaching process of the faculty members. The Principal supervise
the entire process very minutely. Each Department is connected with internet service. It
helps both students and teachers to keep abreast of the latest information and technology.
Our teachers are using projector in class rooms to attract the students. Our teachers point out
the low securing marks students and arrange tutorial and remedial classes to improve them.
Each Department arranges seminars with resource persons. It helps both faculty and
students to enhance their creative skill. The students are given various question banks with
model answers to develop their writing skill. The students are encouraged to participate in
quiz, debate and essay competitions to make them capable in future.
Research and Development:
The Principal built a Research Committee consisting of four members. The
committee encourages the faculty to involve in various research works like
Minor and Major Research Project sponsored by UGC. The committee
provides sufficient information to faculty on research benefits. The committee
gives free hand to faculty members to participate in various National and
International Seminars organized by various Colleges and Universities. The
committee also encourages the faculty to involve the students in class
seminars. The committee gives proposal to the Governing Body to sanction
leave to the faculty to join in orientation, workshop and conference.
Community Engagement:
Our college is situated at an urban area. The students belong to working class family.
They are unaware of their health. Eminent Doctors of the local PHC are invited to impart
useful lectures on health. We arrange health camp under the supervision of NSS from time to
time. We arrange at least two blood donation camps each year. The NSS units arrange
various welfare programmes in the locality. The members of the NSS visit door to door
aware the people of sanitation, useful of plantation, literacy programme, anti dowry
programme, etc.
Human Resource Management:
The Principal takes various steps to improve Human Resource Management. At first the
Principal sends Self-appraisal report to the Government. The Principal monitors the
administrative and academic performances very vigilantly. The Principal appoints Guest
Lecturers to full fill the demands of the students. The Principal takes immediate steps for
remedy in case of a defaulting member under the advice of the Govt. The Principal takes
collective measures for the welfare of the staff.

sort out the drawbacks and try to develop the various steps of the institution. The Principal
involves the media persons who play a role in the bringing the activities to public eyes so that
all the activities can be properly supervised.

Our college has the Grievance-Redressal and Sexual Harassment Cell. It
consists of the Principal and some senior members of teaching staff. The Cell is
very much sincere in this regard. The cell has propped up a grievance box
where the students deposit their written grievances. The Convener of the Cell
checks the box every day and takes remedial measures. But it is a matter of joy
for us that there is no any such complaint yet.

The Principal has formed the Academic and Administrative committee for

committee go to the students of different classes separately and listen their

teacher’s performance, etc. The committee puts the problems in Staff Council
meeting under the supervision of the principal. According to the suggestion and
advice of the Staff Council, the committees take steps to sort out the problems of

The institution puts stress to enhance the professional development of its
teaching and non-teaching staff. The Principal, The Top Management and

Orientation Programme. Seminars, Conferences, Workshops, etc conducted by
Colleges. Each Department organizes intra class seminars on textual topic time
to time to enhance the quality teaching of the staff. The non teaching staffs are
imparted computer training to handle e-governance better. Training in
accounts is given to clerical staff.

Our college adopts various strategies for faculty empowerment through training, re-
training and motivating the employees for the roles and responsibilities they
perform. The faculty members are independent to take their decisions. Even our
Principal is very much co-cordial with his colleagues. The Principal always tries to
develop the mutual bond among them. Even the Principal does not hesitate to
appreciate the performance of the faculty in Staff Council meeting to encourage the
efficiency of teaching and non-teaching staff the principal advises the
Administrative Bursar, Account Bursar, Heads of the Departments to keep in touch
with everyone.

The Principal confidentially seeks information on the performance and records in the format
given by the Government of Jharkhand. At the end of each financial year the Principal
sends the report to the DHE, Jharkhand to review the performance of the staff. If any
negative remark comes the Principal tries to communicate it to the person concerned and
suggests him to improve their professional standard.

are they communicated to the appropriate stakeholders? The Principal communicates the performance appraisal report to the Governing
Body secretly. The Governing Body reviews the report minutely. If any adverse
remarks come against any stakeholders, the Governing Body orders the principal to
sends the report to the DHE, Jharkhand. Then the Govt. takes due action against the
person concerned as per the norms.

faculty are purely based on Government. The college intimates the
Government about the recruitments of staff through staff position in each

efficient use of available financial resources? At the beginning of the session the Governing Body prepares the blue
print with the principal for current financial session for the development
of the institution. The Principal carries out the blue print accordingly.
The finance committee headed by the Account Bursars maintains DCR,
Cash book and various transactions through cheque and direct credit
through banks. The Accountant and the Head Clerk co-operate the
Account Bursar. At the end of each financial session the Audit
Committee comes and reviews the records minutely.

cell consists of seven members including Principal, senior faculty, Educationist of
locality, stakeholder etc. The Cell sits in meeting twice a year. In the first meeting the
Cell discusses and puts emphasis on the teaching learning process. The Cell advises the
Principal to monitor the process and try his level best to make it more productive.

The IQAC takes a lot of decision in favor of the academic and
infrastructural development. The Governing Body approves all the
decisions taken by the IQAC. These decisions are implicated by

in this committee; they attend all the important meetings time to

important role for the effective functioning of its Cell. The Cell takes
the opinions of the students and Alumni. Then the Cell considers and

The IQAC is an important organ which communicates equilibrium
between the students and the faculty members. The cell takes its
decision in different meeting held time to time. The co-ordinater of this

academic and administrative activities. The Principal calls a staff council
meeting at the beginning of the session. He vividly discusses the portfolios
given to the different faculty members. He instructs the members to do their
duty properly. He particularly emphasis the Academic Bursar to monitor the
teaching and practical classes. He also advises him to review the lesson plan
and progress register of each faculty at regular basis. The Principal and the
Academic Bursar supervises the classes whether they are taken properly. The
Principal advises the Administrative Bursar to keep his eye on the entire
activities of the college. The Administrative Bursar with the guidance of the
Principal and the help of the Account Bursar and senior office assistance
manages the infrastructural development.

different College and Universities.

The academic committee comprises of the Principal and two senior faculty
members. The Academic Bursars review the lesson plans and progress

performance through the DLC. Hence the DLC visits and sensitizes the
Principal and other faulty members.

his best to make the College a garden which is the epitome of natural beauty. It helps the
students to read in a healthy environment. The College has taken a few steps to make the
campus eco-friendly, such as Plantation and Hazardous waste management.
There are a lot of massive trees to be planted inside the campus . The students enjoy
under its bower. In addition to there are two permanent Botanical gardens which are very eye
catching. The flower garden comprises of a lot of decorative plants like Cactus, Rose , China
Rose , Jasmine , Lily , Hena , Marigold, Dahlia , Zinnia , Sunflower etc. A herbal garden is
there which consists of various medicinal Plants like Lemon , Nima , Datura , Serpntina , Mint ,
Tridax , Brahmi , Tulsi , Bel , Amla , Madar , Aloevera , Belladona , Vesaka , Bryophyllum etc.
The Science students use these medicinal plants in their practical classes. Moreover the
gardens and the trees inside the campus have become a permanent place for the birds who
chirp there day and night.
The College has adopted various sterilization processes to clean waste management.
Dustbins are kept in various places inside the campus to heap wastes. The sweeper of the
College collect these wastes time to time . The members of NSS unit also took steps to clean the
campus under various NSS programmes.

3. The Context Yoga is the soul of physical fitness. Our Yoga teacher is very much sincere to organise
various Yoga programmes in various peripheral schools . He invites various Yoga teachers to
teach the students in our own college and in the above schools. Apart from that we sincerely
arrange Yoga classes in the college. Even we have specifically Yoga class in our time table. We
celebrate the “ YOGA DAY” on 12th January every year. Our students go in a procession with
placards and give slogan about the advantages of Yoga.

The practice includes qualities of leadership spirit of team work, friendly feeling, Spiritual
development, immediate decision making, physically fit, co-operation, etc. The Yoga
practices help the student to become study oriented. It leads to build their good academic
career. It helps to become selflessness instead of selfishness. Various Yoga programmes
create an enthu among them to justify their vision. It creates a scientific thinking as it is
closely related with science. At times the students deviate from morality. But other times this
Yoga helps them to be friendly. Yoga is beyond caste, color and creed, which is the best
practice in human life.
5. Evidence of Success :- A specific notice is given to staff and students to take part in Yoga Sivira. As per the
scheduled a Yoga Guru is invited to conduct the programme. Before the programme started
the students registered their names. Photographs, CDs, are kept in its file. The paper
advertisement is also there in the file. The message is delivered in local TV channel.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required :- To make this Yoga programme more successful we need Trainers and some equipments. As
we have no sufficient fund it is being difficult in our part to make it comprehensive. The YRC
has no any specific fund to expand on its head. More Yoga Guru should be assigned to do the
needful.

students come forward to donate blood in the blood donation camp organized by the NSS.
The Volunteers of NSS headed by the TEAM head to go from door to door campaign to
aware the people about AIDS, Sanitation, Plantation, Literacy, Adult literacy, etc. A lot of
girl’s students participate in Annual Athletic Meet. Even a few students have got the
opportunity to participate in district level competitions.

4. The Practice :- The girl’s students of our college drop in door to door in nearby villages on various
observing days like Yoga Day, the Children’s Day, the Literacy Day, the Independence Day,
etc. They go with placards and give slogans to arouse awareness among rural illiterate
women. They perform road plays in various public places to create consciousness among the
people. The girls students come forward to donate blood in various camps organized by the
NSS. They also organize various programs in schools to aware the tinny students about
Diarrhea, Malaria, Hepatitis, AIDS, Dysentery, etc. They also visit the nearby PHC to aware
the patient about the cleanliness of the hospital. They actively participate in Self Defense
program under the guidance of master trainer.
