Q: Where did Seth Rogen get such a crazy idea for his movie The Interview? Brian L., Newport Beach, Calif.

A: According to Rogen, his new comedy (opening Dec. 25) isnt so crazy after all. Journalists

have access to some very dangerous people, he says. In The Interview, a couple of cocky TV reporters (played by Rogen and James Franco) land an interview with a North Korean diplomat thats actually a cover for a high-level assassination plot. Like, Barbara Walters could kill Osama bin Laden. Thats where it came from.

Roseanne alum John Goodman lets it all hang outfrom his shaved head to steam bath scenesas an intimidating loan shark in the upcoming movie The Gambler (opening Dec. 25), starring Mark Wahlberg.

What did you think about shaving your head to play your character, Frank, and being practically naked in some scenes? I had never played anything like that before, but the script was good and I really admire Mark Wahlberg, so I jumped.

You are in your second season of the Amazon.com political satire Alpha House. Is your character based on any real-life politicians? No. I took what [creator] Garry [Trudeau] gave me and just used my imagination and ran with it. Sen. Gil Biggs is just a guy having a really good second career. He just forgot he really did want to help people.

Do you consider Roseanne to be your big break, and if thats your legacy, are you OK with that? Yeah, Im ne with it. I had

a good time. I was reminiscing recently with a director that I had worked with right before I took the show. At the time I told him, Im gonna do this pilot for ABC, and hes like, Oh no, dont do that!

Is there a meaning to the tattoo

    that singer Mary Lambert

has on her arm?Cheryl F., Long Beach, Calif.

A: Denitely. Mary is the fth in a line of Marys, dating back to her great-grandmother, and each generation has planted pansies in their gardens. But the Same Love singer is always on the road, so her tattoo garden began with a few pansies and grew from there. I thought it would be gurative, Lambert says. I also added rhododendronsthe Washington state owerfor the Pacic Northwest. The two

owers together remind me where I come from.

    WALTER SCOTT ASKS...

Zane Lamprey, host of NatGeos new series Chug, in which he samples the worlds most exotic adult beverages while traveling via train, offers these bottoms up phrases for ve places he recently visited.

1.BULA! (Fiji) Its [also] how you greet someone, says Lamprey. Its the most common word in Fiji.

    2. SALUTE!(Rome) Just make sure youre eating when youre drinking. Its the Italian way!

    3. EGSZGEDRE! (egg-eh-sheg-eh-dreh, Budapest) The most difcult toast Ive ever learned.

    4. Cheers! (Sydney) Just like in the U.S. But they say it a lot more.

    5. PROST! or ZUM WOHL! (Vienna) Youll hear these at any biergarten.

Ask your healthcare provider for ways to lower your chances of getting heart disease.

DO NOT TAKE PREMARIN IF YOU: Have unusual vaginal bleeding.

Currently have or have had certain cancers. Estrogens may increase the chance of getting certain types of cancers, including cancer of the breast or uterus. If you have or have had cancer, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you should use PREMARIN.

Have had a stroke or heart attack.

Currently have or have had blood clots.

Currently have or have had liver problems.

Have been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder.

Are allergic to PREMARIN or any of its ingredients.

Think you may be pregnant or if you are breastfeeding.

    Tell your healthcare provider:

If you have any unusual vaginal bleeding.

About all your medical problems. Your healthcare provider may need to check you more carefully if you have certain conditions such as asthma (wheezing), epilepsy (seizures), diabetes, migraine, endometriosis, lupus, or problems with your heart, liver, thyroid, kidneys, or if you have high calcium levels in your blood.

About all the medicines, vitamins, and supplements you take.

If you are going to have surgery or will be on bed rest; you may need to stop taking PREMARIN.

NEED MORE INFORMATION? This information does not replace talking to your healthcare

provider about your menopausal symptoms and their treatment.

    Go to www.Premarin.com

    Call 1-888-240-8471.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATIONWhat is the most important information I should know about PREMARIN (an estrogen mixture)?

Using estrogen-alone increases your chance of getting cancer of the uterus (womb). Report any unusual vaginal bleeding right away while you are taking PREMARIN because it may be a sign of cancer of the uterus.

Do not use estrogen-alone or estrogens with progestin to prevent heart disease, heart attacks, strokes, or dementia (decline in brain function).

Using estrogen-alone may increase your chances of getting strokes or blood clots.

Using estrogen with progestins may increase your chances of getting heart attacks, strokes, breast cancer, or blood clots.

Using estrogen-alone or combined with progestin may increase your chance of getting dementia, based on a study of women aged 65 years or older.

You and your healthcare provider should talk regularly about whether you still need treatment with PREMARIN.

ABOUT PREMARINPREMARIN (conjugated estrogens tablets, USP) is a prescription medicine that contains a mixture of estrogen hormones. PREMARIN is used after menopause for women to:

Reduce moderate to severe hot flashes.

Treat menopausal changes in and around the vagina.

If you use PREMARIN only for the treatment of menopausal changes in and around the vagina, talk to your healthcare provider about whether a topical vaginal product may be better for you.

Help reduce your chances of getting osteoporosis (thin, weak bones).

If you use PREMARIN only to prevent osteoporosis due to menopause, talk to your healthcare provider about whether a different treatment or medicine without estrogens might be better for you.

PREMARIN should be taken at the lowest dose for the shortest time possible and only for as long as treatment is needed.

    2 Tbsp mayonnaise

1 cups whole milk Greek yogurt

Juice and zest of 1 or 2 lemons

    1. Preheat oven to 450F and line two bak-ing sheets with parchment paper. Grate russet and sweet potatoes, place in a large colander, and toss with a generous pinch of salt. Let stand 15 minutes, then rmly wring out moisture.

Where is the best location for viewing the aurora borealis? And when is a good time to take a chance? Seeing the Northern Lights has long been a dream of mine, but the timing seems to be a matter of luck. V. L., Highland, Calif.

Are you an adventurous type? If so, you can reduce the need for serendipity by taking a chair lift ride up to the Aurora Sky Station in Abisko National Park in Lapland, the northernmost province of Finland. This area, which is in the middle of the auroral zone, enjoys an unusual atmospheric situation that keeps it virtually free of clouds despite surrounding weather patterns, and Northern Lights can be viewed nearly every night during the winter months.
