    Product Demonstration

    Our research team visited the Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel premises on Thursday,

    February 3 rd , 2011 to witness a first hand experience of how the E-commerce

    website works. Our gratitude goes to Mr. A.K.M. Morshed, director of Technical

    Services, for giving a live demonstration of the reservation system in real-time.

    We also got to see how credit card transactions, verifications and booking takes

    place. We were also fortunate to see how loyalty program clients get extra

    privileges for their continued use of services offered by the hotel. This proved to

    be a mutually beneficial arrangement where both the hotel and clients offer each

    other high valued business.

    Suggestion

    While our team was generally impressed with the efficiency of Pan Pacific

    Sonargaons electronic reservation system, it lacks a personalized view and

    options for residents of Bangladesh. It appears that the website is engineered

    for the sole purpose of attracting foreign clientele. The truth remains,

    Sonargaon is a very exciting and happening five star oasis in the country. There

    is a great level of latent demand and interest in the services and products

    offered by this establishment. Due to lack of advertizing and promotion of these

    aspects, local residents are generally in dark.

    We also noticed a lack of enthusiasm among the top level management to use

    Bangla in their website. It almost feels as if the hotel is not part of Bangladesh.

    The website not only makes no use of Bangla, it also doesnt allow reservation

    forms to be filled out in Bangla. For a chain company that boasts to be global,

    it definitely lacks a local touch.

    Conclusion

    Finally, we would like to thank our instructor, Mr. Sajib Saha, for providing us

    this stimulating and exciting opportunity to study the inner workings of an e-

    business enterprise first-hand. We hope and believe that this experience will

    enable us to understand the mechanisms and structures of incorporating online

    technology to existing businesses and hence increasing its profitability.
