palazzo dandolo parisi
DESCRIPTION
Built in the 17th century, the Palazzo Dandolo Parisi palace is situated between Rialto and Accademia bridge on the Canal Grande. The two doors on the Canal and the two ‘Piani Nobili’ (Nobles Floors) suggest that the original owners of the palace were two brothers. Dandolo is the name of a Doge’s family. The Doge Enrico Dandolo was born in Venice in 1107 and died in Constantinople in 1205. Palazzo Dandolo belonged to Paolucci’s family in the 18th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the palace was bought and restored by Pietro Parisi where he lived with his wife and five children. Pietro Parisi, the son of Francesco Parisi, was of Austro-Hungarian heritage with roots in Trieste, where for the last two centuries the family has operated their International Transportation business from. The Piano Nobile (1st floor apartment) of Palazzo Dandolo Parisi now belongs to Matilde Dolcetti de Castro, the second daughter of Francesca Stanilla Parisi and Pietro’s eldest daughter.TRANSCRIPT
