He was a technician for Linde, LLC; a Navy veteran; a member of St. Romuald Catholic Church; and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing horseshoes, gardening and swim- ming. He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Bland. Cawthon, 73, Brandenburg, died March 16, 2013, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born July 22, 1939, in Eldorado, Ill., to the late Douglas William “D.W.” and Julia Belt Cawthon. He was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Navy. e highlight of his naval service was being stationed at Palmer Station Antarctica for over a year. He loved nature, watching and feeding the birds, garden- ing, animals and watching St. Louis Car- dinals baseball and Washington Redskins football. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Charles Cawthon. Mr. Cawthon is survived by his wife, Lynda R. Lawson, 88, Elizabethtown, died March 13, 2013. He was a proud dad, papaw and great-papaw. He was also a very proud veteran to have served his country and fought in World War II and the Korean War. He was a distinguished recipient of many medals and awards for his heroism during both wars, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, World War II Victory medal, and many more ribbons and citations. He also retired as a guard from the Gold Vault; was a faithful member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church; a Kentucky Colonel; and a member of the Purple Heart Association. PEGGY JOYCE (HYMAN) RHODES Peggy Joyce (Hyman) Rhodes, 76, Flaherty, died March 16, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Rhodes;

her parents, Junie Bo and Linnie Lee Hy-man; and two brothers, Don Hyman and Louie Hyman. Mrs. Rhodes is survived by four sons, Danny (Connie) Moore, Louisville, Dar-rell (Doris) Moore, Holiday Park, Fla., Dale (Kim) Moore, Louisville, and “Lil” Tom Moore, Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Donna Moore Lyons and Tammy Moore

Holston, both of Flaherty; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five stepchildren, Donna (Hubert) Oaks, Tom (Shari) Rhodes, Chris (Renee) Rhodes, Paula Powell, and Eric (Kristy) Rhodes; two sisters-in-law, Joann Hyman and Jozett Mattingly; and four nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held March 19, from the chapel of Coffey & Chism Funeral Home in Vine Grove, with Dr. R. Shawn Edwards officiating. Burial was in the St. Martin Cemetery in Flaherty. bethtown, Anthony (Alexis) Wathen, London, Theresa (Wesley) Prather, Pat (Paula) Wathen, Tommy (Lisa) Wathen, all of Vine Grove, and David Earl Wathen, Her-eford, Texas; 39 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on March 21, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from the chapel of Hager Fu-neral Home in Brandenburg, from 1-8 p.m. on March 20; a prayer service will be held March 20, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
