I t was a busy week for Supima. From New York to Arizona, the Supima organization was front and center giving industry insiders insight into the current state of American-grown Pima cotton and its newest initiative in cotton origin verification with Oritain.

Home Textiles Today held its Material Changes Conference in New York where numerous hot-but-ton topics were covered throughout the day. From the uncertainty of tariffs and textiles to the technological advancements in smart apparel and medical textiles, HTT enlisted the expertise of industry leaders to give insight and direction on the ever-changing home fashion industry.

Supima’s VP of Marketing & Promotions, Buxton Midyette took the stage with Ben Tompkins, Business Development Manager at Oritain, to discuss the growing interest and demand in trans-parency. It was an informative discussion that educated the attendees on the correlation between transparency and sustainability. Supima recently entered into a partnership with Oritain to identify and verify the origin of Supima cotton. By measuring the naturally occurring isotopes and rare elements that exist within the cotton fiber, Oritain is able to trace and pinpoint the geographical production area where the cotton is grown. The project will cover the entire American Pima cot-ton-growing region and create a unique ‘fingerprint’ for Supima cotton.

Some 2500 miles away in Scottsdale, Arizona, Supima held an invitation only seminar during Cotton USA’s biennial Sourcing USA Summit. Supima’s President & CEO, Marc Lewkowitz presided over the meeting with a welcome address and market update with Supima’s Brand Development Manager, Jason Thompson, giving a presentation on Supima’s global brand initiatives including licensing efforts, marketing programs and consumer engagement. Oritain’s Ben Tompkins was also in attendance educating attendees on Supima’s verification program.

W estPoint Home has been a pioneer in the home fashion industry since 1813. Tracing its histo-ry back to the manufacturing of the woolen broadcloth by Stevens, WestPoint Home has been at the forefront of innovation with its fab-

rics and designs manufacturing products in the home goods market including bedding, bath, home décor.

So it comes as no surprise that the company recently announced the launch of Gryphon, a new brand that focuses on stylish and com-fortable bedding. The direct to consumer e-commerce model allows Gryphon to focus on giving consumers a high-quality sleep experience with premium fabrics and beautiful aesthetics at accessible prices. “At Gryphon, we passionately believe that sleep is personal and that everyone deserves their best night sleep, every night,” said Jonathan Witmer, President & Chief Executive Officer of WestPoint Home. “This thinking, coupled with our rich history and unsurpassed expertise in the space, allow us to launch this brand and restore integrity, transparency

and authenticity into the bedding category with the effortlessness of an online experience.”

Gryphon’s offerings come in five cool-tone colors: white, light gray, sky blue, charcoal gray and navy blue – each in three signature styles made with the world’s finest Supima cotton. Supima’s extra-long staple cotton is grown throughout the American West and gives this premium bedding a luxuriously soft touch. The Luxury Suite, Comfort Washed and Easy Living collections, give consumers the opportunity to choose the right style and design for their personal sleeping preference. Over 160 years ago a young man named Fredrick Packard cemented his role in golf when in he left his father’s boot workshop to start his own shoe company in 1857. Packard’s dedication to crafting premium footwear and his love of golf helped to build the foundation of FootJoy, one of the game’s leading golf footwear brands.

In celebration of the brands heritage, FootJoy has launched the FJ1857 collection of fashion-driven performance footwear and apparel. The new collection features a wide range of elevated apparel and footwear for both on and off the course. From golf shirts to sweater to bottoms – and of course shoes – the brand’s design team is in a unique position to access over 100 years of archives for inspiration in designing FJ1857.

Recently featured in Golf Digest magazine, Ken LaRose, FootJoy’s SVP of Brand Marketing, gave the magazine insight into the new collection. With a focus on artisanship and premium fabrics, LaRose explains why FJ1857 stands apart, “I love the golf shirts just because the material is so soft, and it takes colors well”. With American-grown Supima cotton being one of the fabrics for its

golf shirts, LaRose spoke to what makes this shirt one of his favorites. “The characteristic of Supima that makes it unique is it has extra-long fibers,

which when woven together gives it additional strength, durability, has a super soft feel, in the color retention in terms of the saturation of

the color, is very vibrant”, LaRose adds. So, whether you are on links or just hanging out in the

clubhouse, elevate your golf style with the new FJ1857 co l lec t ion. Ava i lab le now on the brands webs i te : www.fj1857.com/apparel/golf-shirts/
