Reading Project
Dear Children
Summer is a time to relax, reflect and renew ourselves for the ongoing academic
year. Reading a good book helps us do just that. Reading expands the mind,
uplifts the spirit and widens the horizon.
Richard Steele has rightly said, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the
body.”
As per CBSE syllabus at least one book is to be read in each term as a part of
the Reading Project. Your book for the first term is:

Use the following guidelines to make the project:
Do you identify with Jason sometimes? How are you similar to him and what makes you different? (200 words)
Name five persons you admire the most in life and state the characteristic that you find awe-inspiring in each of them. You can express your ideas through pictures too.
Discuss three lessons that you draw from the story. (200 words) Write on A4 size sheets and present them neatly in a file. Do not forget to
decorate the cover aesthetically with a designer title. The project will be included
in the first term assessment.
For CBSE evaluation, scan the content and save it on a CD. Submit the file and
the CD.

Students are required to submit a project file /Scrap book on one of
the topics mentioned below. The allocation of the topic will be done
in groups and roll number wise as specified by science teachers in all
classes…..
1. Make a scrap book on the topic ‘Famous Indian Scientists and their
contributions in the field of development of Physics, keep in mind the following points: (i) Mention the names and paste the photographs of atleast 3 Indian
Scientists. (ii) Write their contributions and focus on their theories in detail.
2. Prepare a project file(separate file ) on ‘Bose Einstein Condensate’ OR
‘Plasma State’. 3. a) Prepare a Herbarium on plain drawing sheets. (minimum 10 sheets).
b) Write the habitat in which the plant is located, give its scientific name and any
two unique or interesting facts.
A. ALL Students are also expected to do the following assignments
in their science registers (Physics, Chemistry and Biology
respectively) -
(i) Do Assignment – 1 of Physics from the science assignment booklet.

Your projects should contain 10-15 handwritten pages. Enhance your project by
pictures and newspaper clippings. The project size should not be bigger than A-4
size. The project should be well presented in a neatly bound folder (designed by
you) with cover page, list of content, chapters with relevant headings, summary,
bibliography. These projects will be evaluated and credits will be included in
formative assessments.
ECONOMICS
Do this simple activity in your economics note book.
Go on a field visit around your area and talk to some farmers. Find out answers to the following:
Q1. Name of the farmers
Q2. What kind of farming methods do they use? (Modern/Traditional)
Q3. What are the sources of irrigation?
Q4. How much of the cultivated land is irrigated?
Q5. From where do the farmers obtain the inputs that they require for farming?
Q6. Click a picture with the farmer and paste it along with the interview.
HISTORY
Prepare a short research based project on A4 size sheets on the impacts ofthe events in France on the neighbouring countries such as Prussia, Austria, Hungary or Spain - all of were absolute Monarchial Countries and present in a file. Do not forget to decorate the cover aesthetically with tittle.
The project will be included in the first term assesment for CBSE evaluation, scan the content and save it on a CD. Submit the file and CD

POLITICAL SCIENCE
This cartoon is from Brazil, a country that has long experience of
dictatorship. It is entitled ‘The Hidden Side of Dictatorship’. Is it
necessary for every dictatorship to have a hidden side?
Based on the above statement choose between Abacha of Nigeria OR
Marcos of Philippines for case study. Collect information and pictures
related to their dictatorial rule.
Emphasise on the following aspects:
a) Powers of the dictator
b) Voting rights of the citizens and elections in the country
c) Atrocities inflicted on the people
