The Stewardship Council protects and enhances watershed lands and uses, and invests in efforts to improve the lives of young Californians through connections with the outdoors.

Mission

• Land Conservation–141,000 acres –22 counties

•100% to be protected by easements or equivalent•Approximately 50% of lands available for donation

Progress To Date

• Award winning planning documents – Volumes I and II of the Land Conservation Plan

• Transparent, inclusive planning process• Master 851 Application approved by CPUC• Successful collaboration among pilot

project stakeholders• Strong land conservation team in place

Pilot Project Sites

• 240-acre site located in Tuolumne County

• 2 proposals received from:

–Collaborative group: Tuolumne County Resource Conservation District, Tuolumne County, and Mother Lode Land Trust

–U.S. Forest Service, Stanislaus National Forest

Kennedy Meadows

• 40-acre site located in Tulare County

• 1 proposal received from U.S. Forest Service, Sequoia National Forest

Doyle Springs

Bucks Lake

• 2,000-acre site located in Plumas County

• 1 proposal received from collaborative group:– Plumas County

– Enterprise Rancheria

– Greenville Rancheria

McArthur Swamp

• 7,600-acre site located in Shasta County

• 2 proposals received from:– Shasta County and California

Waterfowl Association

– Fall River RCD, Pit River Tribe, Shasta Land Trust, CA State Parks

Next Steps on Pilot Projects

• Complete evaluation of Land Stewardship Proposals

• Recommend donees for future land stewardship• Negotiate and complete transaction agreements• Prepare land conservation and conveyance plan• Prepare and file 851 application with CPUC
