My Life As A Convict My name is Nicole. I am 11 years old. I’m an orphan and a girl. I was sent to court for stealing clothes and selling them since I was poor. I was about to be hanged but instead I was sent to New Holland. It seemed interesting. I was so relieved!. I was sent there for 5 years. In the meantime I was aboard the ship, The Charlotte. It was new to me because I had never been on a ship before. It was crowded in there, so many bugs, mice and pests. I saw people having diseases, sickness and death! I was getting sick myself! During my trip on the ship, I made friends but one of them died! I was being good but I got whipped once. My job was washing dishes and cooking food. While I was on there I saw someone get locked in a closet. I shivered and prayed I wouldn’t go in there. By Amina 4H

A Convict’s Life

Hi, my name is Jeff and I am 9 years old. I stole clothes and I went to court. Now I am a convict. I was a really naughty convict. Now I have turned into a nice one. But I have been told that I am going to be a convict for 12 years. When they saw I was a good convict on the ship, they let me come up on deck and do some chores. I had to clean the floors and make some supper. I had to travel from London to Australia in like 270 days. 15 convicts got diseases and died. I was frightened because of all the rats, spiders and mice. When I got to Australia I ran away. Finally they found me and I got the cat-o-nine-tails. It really hurt. After a while they released me and I started my own farm for life. I lived happily ever after. By Hayley in 4D

My Life As A Convict My name is Liam. I am 10 years old. When I was born my mum and dad died. I was poor. I only had 50 shillings. I got some clothes and then I didn’t have any money for food so I stole some bread. I went to jail for 7 years. I was going to get hung, but then I got sent to Australia. On the boats there were a lot of rats. Some people died because of sickness. Halfway I got sick and someone helped me. Later on I got a friend called Max. When the boat got to Australia, me and Max had the same job. We had to build houses. Later on me and Max went to get food and I slipped. After a year, we got free. Me and Max made a house and started a new life. We made a farm and we found some other people and we helped each other. By William 3G

My Life As A Convict My name is Jordan. I’m 9. I had a family but they died before I could say goodbye. I had a sister. She was 12. It was cold in England so I stole clothes so I wouldn’t be cold. I got caught. I had nothing to do so I waited until I got to court. I was sentenced to hang. I denied it. I said send me to Australia for 7 years. The ship was getting ready so I waited until we started to move. I was scared. On the ship I turned 10. I wasn’t happy. It was 1788. I got there. It took 8 months. I was seasick also. I arrived. We were building, roads, fences and houses. After building we made a house for shade. We went down to the river. ”Fresh water!” I had a drink. I felt like I had NEVER had a drink. The time had come that I was free. I sailed back to England. I was 15. I told my sister, “Come with me!” She said, “Yes.” We sailed back and I told her I made a house. Then I never stole anything again. By Jordan 3S

P&C News Recently we held a fundraising BBQ and cake stall at the school to coincide with the Council Elections, we are pleased to announce that with the generous help of local business along with our school and local community we were able to raise $1800 to go towards the costs associated with building a Covered Outdoor Learning Area within our school. For myself, as the P&C President it was an absolute pleasure to see our volunteers and donors coming together to raise funds for our school, the contributions and the effort shown by all involved was truly outstanding. I look forward to working with our volunteers on our future fundraising efforts. On behalf of the P&C Committee THANKYOU, Norma De Giorgio The next P&C Meeting will be Monday 31

Preschool News

On Wednesday 14th September the preschool children had an opportunity to take an adventure to the Australian Sydney

Museum. Oh what fun we had exploring and discovering about dinosaurs, prehistoric animals like large wombats and about

skeletons. To follow up from our experience some children wrote stories about the Museum and here they are for you to

read. Thankyou goes to all the families who volunteered their help on the day.

Going to the Museum

On Wednesday, 14th September, we went to the museum on the bus. We saw cars and trucks, a broken down car, traffic

lights, and signs that say exit, and a big crane lifting things, and Ava’s mum thought that it

was going to fall over. We went through the tunnel and over the bridge into the city and we

saw the big church too.

We saw some pretend dinosaurs, some big ones and some itty bitty dinosaurs. We saw

the dinosaur movie. We had to wait 10 minutes for it. The dinosaurs were drinking and

eating fish for food, and then a big dinosaur came out and he swooped the baby dinosaur

that fell over,

and he ate him. We had lunch outside the building in the park and we took lots of pictures.

We took pictures of us, and the teachers and the mummies and daddies, and the statue

man – Captain Cook. We hear the bells ringing on the church, and we listened for it to stop. It took a long time. We saw the

bus and crossed the road and came home.

The Differences of the Wonderful Museum

On Wednesday, 14th September, we went to the museum on a bus. Ava’s mum Sarah looked

after us. We saw cars, shops, houses, people walking, a bridge over the water, the Harbour

Bridge, boats, and butterflies flew past, and people were running with dogs.

We went to the dressing-up. We dressed up as a dinosaur, and Elsa, and a frog and Nemo

cause I had the tail. There was a crocodile too. We saw a skeleton riding a bike, and fish bones

and a snake, and a horse. Then we went into another room. The crane had skinny long legs, he

was the tallest. The pelican was medium size. The butterflies were blue & purple, and yellow and

white.

We were all digging for dinosaur bones, and we found a skull and a leg. We think we saw 10

dinosaur skeletons. It was a good day. And we slept the whole way back to Preschool.

We went to the Museum

Once upon a time, on Wednesday the 14th September, we went to the Museum on a bus. It was a long

trip. But the bus was really fast. We went inside and we ate our morning tea. We went to see the

dinosaurs. We saw the big, big dinosaur and the really taller than us dinosaur. They were made out of

bones. Dinosaurs can’t walk down stairs. There were things that we could touch. The dinosaurs lay

eggs in a nest and they cracked open, and sometimes the big dinosaurs eat the babies if they are on

their own. They are supposed to be with their mummies so they are safe and sound. We saw the birds

and butterflies, and then the skeletons. The skeleton on the bike was getting exercise. We saw a lion

skeleton and fish, and a turtle.

The Golden Explorers Went to the Museum

On Wednesday the 14th September, we went to the museum on a bus. Jesse’ mummy sat

with Aadi and Jesse and Skylah-Jane sat together. We went to the city and then to the

museum and we got off the bus. We ate morning tea at the museum and then we went to

the toilet and then we went up the stairs to the big dinosaur. Skylah-Jane did not like the big

dinosaur. His face was scary and his tail had spikes. His tummy was big too. He was up

high near the roof. There was some little dinosaurs and some big ones. We know T-Rex and

Goodasaurus and Teradactyl. When we went to the skeletons, we saw the lion and the

horse and the bear, the kangaroo and there was a big, big, big skeleton dinosaur with sharp

teeth. Dinosaurs need a mummy and a daddy to have babies. We saw a nest with eggs and

baby dinosaurs inside.

We walked with the mums to the park for lunch, and we had 100 photos. We came home on the bus and we went to sleep.

We Loved Going To The Museum.

On Wednesday, 14th September, we went on the bus for a long, long time to the museum. We

had to sit down, but we played a game too, and took pictures. After we had morning tea, we

went up the stairs to the dinosaurs. There was a big light shining on the dinosaurs, and when it

came on, the dinosaur roared. The roar was scary because it was really, really loud. The

skeletons were sitting on the ground and hanging from the roof. And we saw their teeth and a

big ginormous head, and a long dinosaur neck. We saw spikes on the tails too,. They were

dinosaur heads on the table and we could touch them. Their bones were hard and their skin

was soft. And there was a fossil hunt and you had to put your hands in to find a fossil. A fossil

is so old you can’t count because it is a million years.
