16TH PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. UNTIL HIS ASSASSINATION IN 1865 AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THE CIVIL WAR
EMANCIPATION PROCLAMATION President Abraham Lincoln issued the
Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, as the nation approached its third year of bloody civil war. The proclamation declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free."
14TH AMENDMENT (CITIZENSHIP)
ALL PEOPLE BORN OR NATURALIZED IN THE UNITED STATES WERE NOW CITIZENS. THIS GAVE SLAVES THE FULL RIGHTS AND PRIVLEDGES OF CITIZENSHIP.

The Freedmen's Bureau Bill, which created the Freedmen's Bureau, was initiated by President Abraham Lincoln and was intended to last for one year after the end of the Civil War. It was passed on March 3, 1865, by Congress to aid former slaves with life after slavery.

Series of violent political confrontations involving anti-slavery and pro-slavery settlers.
Took place in the Kansas Territory and the neighboring towns of Missouri between 1854 and 1861.

Wilmot Proviso
