t Statewide, we’re always looking for ways to move forward with our products. Most Arecently, we’ve taken on a new homeowners carrier, Great Lakes Insurance, SE. They are non-admitted, and hold an A+ Superior AM Best rating. We’re thrilled to have them
on board and we know you’ll love them, too. There will be a few important changes to your current policies as they renew into Great Lakes. We will send a notice to you and your insured as those policies come up for renewal, but we wanted to give you the top four changes you need to know. The first one is that, except for mortgage billed policies, our carrier will require a 25% down payment before issuance is granted. Second that 25% payment will be fully earned unless there was an NSF issued for payment. Third, any insured’s request or non-payment cancellations will be calculated on a short-rate basis. Fourth, any claim arising from Windstorm, Water or Hail will be subject to a deductible of 1% of Coverage A limit or the policy deductible, whichever is greater. These changes are vital in helping our carriers remain stable to keep the product thriving so you can use it everyday. Call Alfredo Rico for questions you may have. Welcome Great Lakes Insurance, SE!! (AZ, NV)

Statewide would like to introduce you to our newest employee, “Swami.” Swami knows just about everything, so we’ve asked him to give us just a few insurance facts that relate to Statewide specifically. What say you Swami?
Swami Says, “Handyperson risks that take on jobs with compensation in excess of $1,000 can often be written as a light remodeling contractor - ask your underwriter.”
Swami Says, “False Pretense coverage should be considered for all auto dealerships - it’s inexpensive and could be very valuable when needed.”
Thanks Swami!
“Swami Says . . .” A Funny For You . . .
We’re taking a bit of space in our newsletter to mention the passing of a special, long-time friend and employee of Statewide, Bertha “Bert” Solov. Bert began her career at Statewide as the personal secretary to our CEO, Bob Katz, and eventually took on the role of Human Resources for over 38 years before finally retiring in 2005. Bert then moved to Denver, Colorado to be closer to her daughters. She was kind and treated everyone with class and true professionalism. Bert was also an expert at shorthand, for anyone who remembers that skill! She loved to hike and was an avid Mahjong player. Those of us who were fortunate to work with Bert know that we lost a loyal friend who will forever grace our hearts and live in our memory. Bert worked hard every day to make Statewide a better place. She showed us what it meant to be kind to each other and to always give our very best in everything we do. She was an example of excellence in everything she did. Simply put, Bert Solov made us all better people, and for that, we are eternally grateful. We love you, Bert, and we will miss you terribly.

Colorado and New Mexico! If you are a new agent in Colorado or New Mexico, or would like a refresher on what Statewide can do for you, we are holding a 30-60 minute “Introduction to Statewide” webinar on May 4th, 2021 starting at 9 am Arizona time. If you’d like to attend, let Dave Ranes know! [email protected]
As the temperatures begin to rise, so will the number of wildfires throughout the southwest. Please keep in mind that we cannot write any property risk that is within 25 miles (as the crow flies) of an active wildfire. If you are in doubt as to whether a particular area is currently restricted, call us. We’ll help you identify an active fire in your area. We have access to a current fire mapping system that will help us all to stay informed when a fire is active and when it is out. We’re here to help! (All States)
Mobile Home News
Arizona Mobile Home producers, please be advised that effective 5/1/2021, our mobile home program will no longer offer Flood and Earthquake coverage. So if your insured needs Flood or Earthquake coverage, you’ll need to write it as a separate policy. Also, please note that our mobile homes will now be written as non-admitted. (AZ Only)
