Testimonial:Testimonial:Brigitte Wendel’s older brother, Erich, came home from a week at Outward Bound® with stories of how they camped under the stars, cooked their meals over an open fire, rode the rapids and hiked up to the peak of mountains. She and her two brothers had attended Kids Camp for many years, but her love for the outdoors was more to her liking. At 15, it was nice to hang out with other teens without their parents looking over their shoulders and not be pushed to talk about their feelings. But by the end of the week, she found herself opening up. “You can be truthful with your feelings without worrying about anyone telling your parents. It’s a place where everybody can be themselves.”

Brigitte enjoyed the outdoors and being away from electronics, other people and just hanging out with friends her own age. She aged out of Outward Bound® a few years ago, but returns as a mentor each year so she can share her experiences with other surviving teens.

Brigitte Wendel is the surviving daughter of Richmond (VA) Police Officer Douglas Wendel, EOW 7/30/2003.

Deadline for registration is May 22, 2020.

Registrations will not be accepted after the deadline date.
