BRONZE SWIMMING AWARDS
We are appreciative of the many people who go above and beyond to
support our school’s many programs and initiatives. Congratulations to our
Swimming Bronze Awardees, Kim Dwyer and Kacie Herd and our parent
and community group who have contributed their time to ensure our
swimming program continues. In addition, a number of staff will complete
their Senior First Aid Certificate in Week 10. We value your dedication,
commitment and service to our school!
CUMNOCK VILLAGE PRESCHOOL CHRISTMAS CONCERT
We were delighted to be invited to the Preschool Christmas Concert at
the Cumnock Community Centre last week. The musical items delivered
by the pre-schoolers in front of a huge audience was astounding! Well
done Miss Sarah, your staff and your committee for the outstanding
opportunities you provide for the children of Cumnock and the wider
community.
OUT OF THIS WORLD YEAR 6 FAREWELL CAKE
Talented Samantha Gordon created a worldly cake
masterpiece at the Year 6 Farewell last Thursday. This
was a huge cake in the shape of a globe with fondant-
coloured countries, aeroplanes and figurines depicting
the Year 6 students. Thank you again to the Year 5
parents who planned and cooked delicious foods from
around the world and congratulations to the Year 5
students for organising the wonderful activities to entertain us all. Once again, well done
to everyone, but especially Samantha!

OUTDOOR CINEMA NIGHT AT THE CUMNOCK OVAL
Thank you to the team at Uniting Family Referral Services in Dubbo for their continued support for our
planned movie night. Unfortunately, due to the rain this week, the movie has again been postponed until a
later date next year. Thank you for your understanding.
INAUGURAL HOUSE SWIMMING CARNIVAL
Tomorrow, we will be running our inaugural Inter-House Swimming Carnival with students and staff
supporting their houses. A reminder that the colours for each house are as follows:
DOUGHBOY – BLUE
BURRAWONG – GREEN
IRONBARK – YELLOW
Please encourage your child to wear their house colour.
Thank you to Kim Dwyer and Robyn Bruce who are organising the carnival and to the Cumnock Swimming
Club committee for setting up for this event.
CLUB 200 READING AWARDS
Congratulations to the following students who received their Club 150 and 200 Reading Awards
throughout 2018. The students will be escorted to the Cumnock General Store for a special lunch next
Monday, followed by some exciting water games at the Cumnock Village Preschool with Miss Sarah and
the students. Well done Abby Armstrong, Chase Rodwell, Austin Bruce, Macey Armstrong, Angus and
Charlie O’Brien, Zali Armstrong, Ella Lewis, Jonathan and Hannah Gibson!
CAPTAINS’ SPEECHES
Nervous tension built throughout last week as the Year 5 students
prepared to deliver their leadership speeches to the school and
wider community at the Assembly last Friday. We were proud of
each of the students and the many leadership ideas and initiatives
they hope to deliver in 2019. Thank you again to all the parents,
grandparents and friends for supporting our students. We look
forward to the many leadership roles that will be undertaken by all
of the Year 6 students in 2019. Congratulations to our new School
Captains: Emily Strahan and Jonathan, and Vice Captains: Molly
Duffy and Ella Lewis. Well done again!
TRANSITION TO SCHOOL
Thank you to our talented K/1 teacher, Mr West, who completed our final transition day with our new

MUSICAL OPPORTUNITIES WITH MR BALDWIN
Music lessons will continue on Monday of Week 10 and we would like to
thank Mr Nigel Baldwin for supporting this program this term. We are
fortunate that in our wider community there are people who are
prepared to implement a myriad of opportunities and extracurricular
activities for our students. Thank you Mr Baldwin and we look forward to
hearing about your musical lesson ideas for 2019.

and helmets to school in preparation for the afternoon session in the school grounds.

safely in our community.
MRS MCFARLAND’S SEWING SCHOOL
Mrs McFarland has been the driving force for our Sewing School this term, along with our community

year and implementing another sewing opportunity in 2019!
