Ladies' Par-3 Challenge (July 20, 2019)

This event was open to all One-day, Weekday and 7-day female members. There were temporary tees setup on each hole for this par-3 event. The distance for each hole varied from 70 to 150 yards. This was a “net event”.  The net scores were determined using 50 percent of the golfer's handicap. This event is meant to be a fun event where everyone meets in the Clubhouse after 18 holes for prizes (some skill and some random). We had very enjoyable though hot weather this year and were able to play all 18 holes.  We all gathered in the Lounge afterwards for lunch, prizes and draws.  Everyone enjoyed the event and we are planning to include it on the schedule again in 2020 with less explosive markers for the tees!

The Low Net winner was Stephanie Lemaire followed by Pat McMenemy, Susan Gillean and Bonnie Zuran.  The Mystery Team was won by Cheryl; McHardy, Pat McMenemy, Carole Myers and Jill Finlin.   Winners of on-course prizes were Jill Finlin and Bonnie Zuran for closest to the Pin on #2 & #8 followed by Furthest from the Pin on #12 which was won by Carole Myers. The ‘In the Pond’ (Draw) and the Longest Puttt were won by Liz Roberts. The random draw prize winners were Dorothy Price, Wendy Buchanan, Mary Weatherley, Karen Gardner, Gail Nezan, Kathy Mongeau

The following 17 individual/group entries won a $39 share of the prize pool: Anne Queen, Richard Lessard, Gerry Hoeft, Tom Pulcine, Dale Weatherley, Jim Brown, Mike Swan, Susan Gillean, Stephanie Lemaire, Karen Acton, Dini Nugent, Jill Finlin, Marty Wells, Scott Gerrard, David Green, Group entry - Lee Whelly, Renate Rodgers, Liz Curran and Group entry – Anne Queen, Wendy Buchanan, Gail Nezan.

All Pool winners were entered in a draw for a $100 Cedarhill Proshop Gift Certificate (donated by Greg Robertson on behalf of Cedarhill Golf & Country Club) which was won by Wendy Buchanan.

There was also a chance for all golfers and spectators to buy tickets for a cash draw. The winners were:

Cash Draw  Mike Swan  50%  $196.00

  Wendy Buchanan  25%  $98.00

  Jim Niles  15%  $58.80

  Susan Gillean  10%  $39.20  $392.00

Everyone had a great time. Congrats to all our 2019 Club Champions.

2019 Golf Rule Changes explained:

Relief Options for Unplayable Ball in Bunker - Normal Relief Options (One Penalty Stroke)

When a player’s ball is in a bunker:

DIAGRAM 19.3: RELIEF OPTIONS FOR BALL UNPLAYABLE IN BUNKER

A player decides that his or her ball in a bunker is unplayable. The player has four options: (1) For one penalty stroke, the player may take stroke-and-distance relief. (2) For one penalty stroke, the player may take back-on-the-line relief in the bunker. (3) For one penalty stroke, the player may take lateral relief in the bunker. (4) For a total of two penalty strokes, the player may take back-on-the-line relief outside the bunker based on a reference line going straight back from the hole through the spot of the original ball.
