Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is a special opportunityto sit with Jesus Christ in a more powerful way. We, asCatholics, believe in the true presence of Christ in theEucharist and he is present in the consecrated host withinthe monstrance on the altar. Come, spend an hour with himand see the power of God make a difference in your life.

Even the hairs of your head have all been counted.Do not be afraid... Lk 12:7

Two of our greatest gifts from God to each of us are life andtime. Without taking care, we can easily miss the grandeurand beauty of both. Being mindful as an Everyday Stewardmeans pausing to see the detail in all that exists aroundus. God’s creation is not something created with a broadbrush, but instead with the intricacies of a master painter.God created all things with purpose and complexity thatonly the divine could fully comprehend. Every single hair onour head has been counted! But when we take a momentto reflect on the beauty that is created by that complexity,we allow ourselves to revel in God’s generosity. There is somuch to give thanks for in this life. But you and I can’t givethanks to God unless we really stop to take notice. An excerpt from Everyday Stewardship-Living An Extraordinary Life

There is so much beauty around us and it is good to openour eyes and hearts to find God in all that we see andexperience. It is easy to overlook him especially in our worldtoday, but he is here and we must give glory to him in all ofhis creation. God is there in the people that we encountereven when it is very difficult to find him. He is there in thegrocery store line, in the car in front of us who just cut usoff, in the annoying person we run into and try to dodge, and even sometimes in our life partner or our children whocan drive us crazy. God is there. He is also there in all theeasy times, in all the happy moments but in those, he iseasy to find. He loves us so much that he knows every hairon our head, we are so important to him. We are blessedto be loved by such a generous and merciful God. If wewalk with him, serve him, and show him gratitude here inthis life, we can truly believe that we will walk with him ineternity.

Encounter Jesus, Serve Others

What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone? An individual may ask for a priest to offer a Mass for severalreasons: for example, in thanksgiving, for healing, for theintentions of another person (such as on a birthday, as ismost common, for the repose of the soul of someone whohas died).

When a priest offers Holy Mass, he has three intentions:first, to offer the Mass reverently and validly in accord withthe norms of the Church. Second, to offer the Mass in unionwith the whole Church and for the good of the whole Church.Third, to offer the Mass for a particular intention, such asthe repose of the soul of someone who has died.

When a person asks for a Mass to be offered for a particularintention; usually, a stipend is given to the priest for offeringthe Mass (suggested donation is $10).

When we face the death of someone, even a person who isnot Catholic, to have a Mass offered for the repose of hissoul and to offer our prayers are more beneficial andcomforting than any other sympathy card or bouquet offlowers. To have a Mass offered on the occasion of a birthday, anniversary or special need is appropriate, beneficial andappreciated. Mass cards may be sent to individual or family. To offer a Mass Intention, please contact Cindy in the ChurchOffice at 663-8632 or [email protected].

Mary, Undoer of Knots

Mary, Undoer of Knots, straightens out the ribbon of ourlives and directs us on a straight path to Jesus, her son.The Blessed Virgin helps us loosen the knots that suffocaterelationships between married couples, parents, theirchildren, our neighbors, and most importantly, with JesusChrist. We at Holy Souls have a Mary, Undoer of Knots, display in the southeast corner of the sanctuary.

We invite you to take a look at the knots that weigh on yourheart. Write your prayers or “knots” onto the strips of paperyou will find by the display and tie them onto the framesand entrust them to Mary’s intercession. When your prayeris answered, you may tie a special blue ribbon on the panel.

The devotion to Mary, Undoer of Knots, dates back to 17th century Germany, when a couple on the verge of separationsought help from a priest who was knownfor his strong Marian devotion. The priestbegan to ask for Mary’s intercession to“untie the knots” in their relationship, and peace was restored to theirmarriage. In 1980, Jorge Mario Bergoglio(who later became Pope Francis),discovered this devotion to Mary whichhe still promotes to this day.
