Apreciados feligreses, hemos iniciado el camino de formacion en la FE para nuestros niños, es un reto que require Oración y participación activa de los padres, por tanto con alegria y confianza en Dios iniciamos esta nueva Aventura de cami-nar con Jesus. De otro lado, como lo pueden apreciar seguimos con la pintura del templo, dentro de unos dias terminaremos este proceso. Es tambien, tiempo de Orar intensamente y de confiar plenamente en Dios! Es decir, No es lo que tú puedes hacer, es lo que DIOS puede hacer conti-go si te pones en Sus Manos! Dear Parishioners, we have started FAITH formation for our children. It is a challenge that requires prayer and active participation of the par-ents. Therefore with joy and trust in God we begin this new adventure of walking with Jesus. On the other hand, as you can see that we continue with the painting of the church which will be completed in a few days. It is also, time to pray intensely and put our full trust in God! In other words, it is not what you can do, but what God can do with you if you put yourself in His hands!

Ofrendas : El sentido de la colecta económica de la misa es la compartición de los bienes, según el Misal Romano. “Se ofrecen dones materiales para los pobres a los que asiste la comunidad cristiana o para las necesidades de la misma parroquia”.

Con el gesto de pasar la cesta en el momento del ofertorio, los cristianos están llamados a dar su aportación espiritual al sacrifi-cio de la misa, su aportación material. Siempre libremente según la propia conciencia. Hoy en nuestra sociedad, es más cómodo una colecta económica para las necesidades de la parroquia y de los pobres que llevar comida por dar un ejemplo.

Offertory : The sense of economic Collect of the Mass is the sharing of goods, according to the Roman Missal. It is well also that money or other gifts for the poor or for the Church, brought by the faithful or collected in the church, should be received. These are to be put in a suitable place but away from the Eucharistic table.

With the gesture of passing the offertory basket, Christians are called to add their material contri-bution to their spiritual contribution as a sacrifice during the Mass. Of course, always freely and in accordance with their own conscience. Today in our society, it is easier to make an economic con-tribution for the needs of the parish and the poor that to take food to the poor for example.

Cada 14 de Septiembre se celebra la Festividad de la Exal-tación de la Santa Cruz. La costumbre de venerar la Santa Cruz se remonta a las primeras épocas del cristianismo en Jerusalén. Esta tradición comenzó a festejarse el día en que se encontró la Cruz donde padeció Nuestro Señor. Posteriormente, a principios del siglo VII, cuando el ejército del Is-lam saqueó Jerusalén se apoderó de las sagradas reliquias de la Santa Cruz. Esta serían recuperadas pocos años más tarde por el emperador Heraclio, y recordando este rescate es que celebramos el 14 de sep-tiembre la exaltación de la Cruz. Para evitar nuevos robos, la Santa Cruz fue partida. Una parte se llevó a Roma, otra a Constantinopla; una se dejó en Jerusalén y una más se partió en pequeñas astillas para repartirlas en diversas iglesias

del mundo entero.

The Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, celebrated every year on September 14, recalls three historical events: the finding of the True Cross by Saint Helena, the mother of the emperorConstantine; the dedication of churches built by Constantine on the site of the Holy Sepul-chre and Mount Calvary; and the restoration of the True Cross to Jerusalem by the emperor Hera-clius II. But in a deeper sense, the feast also celebrates the Holy Cross as the instrument of our sal-vation. This instrument of torture, designed to degrade the worst of criminals, became the life-giving tree that reversed Adam's Original Sin when he ate from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden.

rábolas para ayudarnos a profundizar en la imagen que tenemos de Dios. La imagen que se tiene de Dios influye mucho en el modo de pensar y de obrar. Por ejemplo, la imagen de Dios, como juez severo, da miedo y vuelve a la persona muy sumisa y pasiva o rebelde. La imagen patriarcal de Dios, o sea, Dios patrón, amo, fue y todavía es usada para legitimar las relaciones de poder y do-minio, tanto en la sociedad como en la familia y la comunidad. En tiempos de Jesús, la idea que la gente tenía de Dios era la de uno muy distante, juez severo, que amenazaba con el castigo. Jesús revela una nueva imagen de Dios: Dios Padre, lleno de ternura con todos y con cada uno en parti-cular. Y esto es lo que las tres parábolas de este domingo nos quieren comunicar.

This Sunday Twenty-Fourth of Ordinary Time St. Luke presents us with three parables

to help deepen the image that we have of God. The image we have of God influences the way we think and act. For example, the image of God as a stern judge, causes fear and may influence a person to be very submissive and passive or rebellious. The patriarchal image of God, or God as master, was and still is used to legitimize the relations of power and domination, both in society as in family and community. In Jesus' time, the idea that people had of God was that of a very distant, stern judge, who threatened with punishment. Jesus reveals to us a new image of God: God the Father, full of tenderness for everyone and for each one in particular. This is what this Sunday’s three parables want to communicate to us.

Annual Collection for Seminarian Appel Weekend

The Diocesan-wide Special Collection for Seminarians will be conducted on September 17 an 18. Registered parishioners will be receiving a letter and brochure in the mail form Bishop Pates. Gifts to this collection support the education and formation cost associated with seminarians, which continually rise. There are 23 seminarians in the Diocese of Des Moines. They are quality individuals dedicated to discernment. Your prayers for the number to continue to increase are ap-preciated. The need for your support is critical so that we may continue providing for our seminar-ians. Your gift to this important appeal makes the difference for our faith leaders of tomorrow by providing necessary educational funding. The average cost to educate one seminarian is approxi-mately $30,000 each year. Please experience the joy of given.of giving and join us as we work to-gether to continue God’s work.
