ANNIVERSARY WISHES

Remembering Jesus’ Message of Divine Mercy…

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church …

St. Faustina writes in her diary: “Few are the souls that are always watchful for divine grac-es, and even fewer of such souls who follow those inspira-tions faithfully. Still, a soul which is faithful...cannot con-firm its own inspirations...it should not, on its own initia-

tive alone, put its trust in their inspirations...because it can thus expose itself to great loss.” (Diary # 138-139)

“Unintentional ignorance can diminish or even remove the imputability of a grave of-fense. But no one is deemed to be ignorant of the principles of the moral law, which are written in the conscience of every man.” (CCC #1860)

It is with joy that we announce the upcoming wedding(s)

Deacon Paul L. Brachle February 11, 1931 - June 3, 2017

Paul L. Brachle, 86, of Darien, Illinois passed away on June 3, 2017 sur-rounded by his wife and children. He was born February 11, 1931 in Chi-cago, IL. He served 8 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves during the Korean War. After serving his country, he studied and earned a Bache-lor’s degree in Engineering from Purdue University. He worked for 33 years as a packaging engineer in the food industry at Continental Can Company then Crown, Cork and Seal.

He was married in 1958 to Marilyn (nee Mahoney), and together, they lovingly raised 8 children. On September 14, 1985, Paul was ordained a deacon of the Catholic Church and began serving Our Lady of Peace Church in Darien. When he retired from his engineering job, he served as a full-time deacon. He visited the sick and brought them Holy Communion, comforted the be-reaved, advised the lost, taught in the parish, and ran the food pantry for many years. He was a good and faithful servant, a caring and supportive husband, loving and wonderful father, and be-loved grandfather. His greatest joy was encouraging others in the love and service of our Lord Je-sus Christ. He will be greatly missed, but his family takes comfort in his joy in heaven. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary (nee Kuhn) Brachle, his sister Lois Mani-fold (nee Brachle), his brother-in-law Jack Manifold, his sister-in-law Carol Russell (nee Mahoney), his brother-in-law John Russell, and his grandson Tommy Williams. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marilyn, his 8 children—Mary Brachle, Margaret Caine (Michael), Susan Garvin (Martin), Paul Brachle (Tracey), Nancy Tushman (Matthew), Teresa Nadolski, John Brachle, and Sarah Wag-ner (Chris)—and his 17 grandchildren.

Make and Take Weekend Meals Program Did you know that our parish has a weekend meals program? It is to assist: ~ Our Lady of Peace Parishioners ~ A person or family who faces a significant health issue or other crisis ~ The person or family does not have other assistance in the area Our Weekend Meals Program has been in place for almost 20 years and has supported parishioners who are not able to get to the store or prepare their own meals. Meals are provided on Saturday afternoon and are enough to have a meal on both Saturday and Sunday. The meals are made and delivered on Saturdays by parishioners who coordinate the meal and the timing of the delivery the week before. Please contact Raye Ann at (630) 323-4222 ext.17 if you have a need and would like to be considered for the program.

Your participation in the CMAA is important. If you have not had a chance to participate in the Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA) this year, there is still time. A mailing will be arriving in homes shortly. As your pastor, I encourage you to prayerfully reflect on God’s gifts to you and to give a gift to the CMAA. Participation is the key to a successful appeal and a chance for our parish to receive a parish rebate, too. Every gift helps!

If you do not receive this mailing and would like to make a gift to the CMAA, please call the Diocese of Joliet Devel-opment Office at 815-838-8515. Or, if you wish to make your gift online, please visit www.jolietdioceseappeal.org.
