Fifth Sunday of Easter We are already at the Fifth Sunday of Easter. After today, there are two (2) more “Easter Sunday’s” to celebrate before the Great Feast of Pentecost. For the next three (3) weekends, our Old Testament Readings will be from the Acts of the Apostles, the New Testament Readings will be from Revelation and the Holy Gospel Readings will be from John. In this period of time, and told about in the reading of the Acts, in when the Apostles of Jesus went about the region teaching, spreading the Good News and beginning to establish the Church of Jesus. While we know that the celebration of Easter is still thriving and going strong in the Church, we still select hymns and songs from the Easter repertoire. These songs speak (or sing) of new life, joy and dance. Today, we sing an old Shaker tune to the words of the “Lord of the Dance”. This starts beautifully from the beginning of it all, dancing ‘when the world was begun’ and dancing ‘in the moon, stars and sun’. As the verses go on, we hear the part of the story we heard two (2) Sundays ago about the fishermen. Then the text goes on to bring us to the events Jesus endured on Good Friday, and finally, being let free from the wood of the Cross to His new resurrected life, that, we are promised, will never, never die. The song “We Have Been Told” will be used during the next couple weeks as its message brings out keeping the commands of the Lord as well as ensuring His great love and laying one’s life down for a friend. These messages will be exhibited in the Gospels of John. He assures us of His love and commands us to do the same to others, “Love one another as I have loved you.” (John 13:32-33)

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE by Bud Ozar
In today’s Gospel Jesus tells us: “Love one anoth-er.” Love holds a family together. It is not what a family does which makes it outstanding...rather it is
what it has...love one another.

“Patients need to be able to trust their doctors to always care for their lives and never deliber-ately cause death… Patients facing serious ill-ness may feel hopeless and depressed, as though their lives have lost meaning. Address-ing psychological, emotional, and spiritual problems is essential to palliative care. Assisted suicide allevi-ates none of these problems, but gives in to them.”

tolerated. Open hearts and minds to recognize and defend the precious gift of every human life.”

All our Mothers Flowers in Mary’s month ties us closely to the reawaken-ing earth. The time of Resurrection and expected Pente-cost is one of buds, blossoms, wildflowers and greening of meadows and lawns. Days lengthen and we welcome the warmth of the sun after the long winter. Jesus is Risen and is present in our midst, and so we rise and ascend with Him.
