As the weather gets warmer, please remember the guidelines for dressing appropriately for attendance at Our Lady of Lourdes. See the box below. Also, please remember that we do have parishioners who make beautiful veils and modest skirts and jumpers. They are the

should speak will fall silent. Yes…we clerics…priests, bishops, and yes, popes…we have fallen silent. We spoke out a bit over the issue of divorce, but eventually retreated in silence. We cowered before the world and failed to shepherd the Faithful regarding the issue of the contraceptive mentality. We then whimpered over things like co-habitation, infidelity, and company keeping. We were afraid of the women’s movement and the power of feminist ideology, so we gave into the modern mindset and were quiet about wives being submissive to their husbands. And with the abomination of sodomy now legalized and heavily promoted, many Catholic clerics are being swept along in this modern wave of impurity, accepting or at least tolerating that sin which calls down vengeance from heaven. In this decisive battle about marriage and family, we need Our Lady of Fatima's all-powerful intercession. We pray that she will crush the head of the serpent. Please consider attending our special celebration of the 100th anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions at Fatima on May 13th, beginning at 10 AM. Let us prepare for battle.—Fr. Shannon Collins, MSJB,

AJESTIC QUEEN OF HEAVEN AND MISTRESS OF THE ANGELS, thou didst receive from God the power and commission to crush the head of

Satan; wherefore we humbly beseech thee, send forth the legions of Heaven, that, under thy command, they may seek out all evil spirits, engage them everywhere in battle, curb their insolence, and hurl them back into the pit of Hell. “Who is like unto God?” O good and tender Mother, thou shalt ever be our hope and the object of our love. O Mother of God, send forth the holy Angels to defend us and drive far from us the cruel foe. Holy Angels and Archangels, defend us and keep us. Amen.

To dress becomingly for God and neighbor, and in keeping with the reverence due to the Blessed Sacrament, kindly refrain from wearing shorts, tee-shirts, tank-tops, revealing blouses, sleeveless or backless dresses, or form-fitting clothing of any sort. Please do wear dresses and skirts that fall below the knee when seated. With due regard to time and circumstance, all are encouraged to wear decorous attire befitting sacred and divine worship.

On June 13, 1917, Our Lady of Fatima said to the shepherd children: “Jesus wants to use you to make me known and loved. He wants to establish devotion to my Immaculate Heart in the world. To those who embrace it I promise salvation, and those souls will be beloved by God like flowers placed by me to adorn His Throne.” In 1925 Our Lady came to Sr. Lucia alone to give her the devotion of the Five First Saturdays of Reparation to Immaculate Heart.

A confessor of Sr. Lucia of Fatima asked: “Why does it have to be five Saturdays, and not nine or seven in honor of the sorrows of Our Lady?” Sr. Lucia later gave this response:

While staying in the chapel with Our Lord part of the night of 29th to the 30th of the month of May 1930, and speaking to Our Lord, I suddenly felt more intimately possessed by the Divine Presence; and if I am not mistaken, the following was revealed to me, ‘My daughter, the reason is simple. There are five types of offenses and blasphemies perpetrated against the Immaculate Heart of Mary: (1) Blasphemies against her Immaculate Conception; (2) Against her virginity; (3) Against her divine maternity and at the same time refusing to accept her as the Mother of men; (4) Those who publicly try to instill indifference, scorn and even hatred toward this Immaculate Mother in the hearts of children; and (5) Those who insult her directly in her sacred images.”
