INFANT BAPTISMS For children under 7 years of age, the sacrament is celebrated the FIRST Sunday of the month at 2:00 pm. The parents must register in the parish office at least 4 weeks prior to the baptism. Both parents and godparents are expected to attend one catechetical session in advance, on the Wednesday before the baptism, at 7:00 pm.

SACRAMENTS OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION Before being fully initiated into the sacramental life of the Church, children over the age of 7 will need catechetical prepa-ration through the RCIC process. Teenagers and adults will par-ticipate in separate RCIA processes. CONFIRMATION and COMMUNION For those already baptized, preparation for these Sacraments will take place according to the person’s age and knowledge of the Catholic Faith. For further information contact the Office of Faith Formation Program.

MARRIAGES Couples should contact the parish office at least six months in advance to make the proper ar rangements for the Sacrament of Matrimony.

RECONCILIATION A priest is available for Confessions on Saturday afternoon from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. You can also make an individual appoint-ment. PARISH DEVOTIONS Our Lady of Fatima Novena and Rosary Monday 7:30 pm.

FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners, I was celebrating the Mass of “Mary, Mother of the Church” on Monday and a little boy that kept crying in the front pew did not fail to draw my atten-tion during the Mass. The little boy was standing next to his father who was trying different things to make him comfortable and at ease. I instinctively looked for the mother but did not see her until later on when they both were taking turns carrying the boy who fell asleep.

This experience makes me think of one of the reasons that Pope Francis included this cele-bration on the Universal Calendar of the Church. He wanted to “…encourage the growth of the ma-ternal sense of the Church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety…”.

As we meditate as Church on the nature of God who is the Trinity, we think of how all life comes from God and how God has revealed him-self to us showing us what living perfectly is by the union of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. It is good to try each year to understand the mystery of Trinity more and more. It is perfect love. It is a gift as well to have the example of Mary, our Mother, who by her presence helps us also to understand the nur-turing reality of God.

That father in the church trying to care for his little son is an example to us the church that our faith is never just about protection, stability, and profession of the good news. It is also about car-ing, nurturing and being maternal to all its mem-bers and to all of creation.

Evangelization is to experience the good news of Jesus in our lives that can bring growth in our relationship with Jesus. Two programs that we look forward to beginning are Arise and Levan-tate. If you would like to volunteer to help, leave your name for Mario Guerrero at the rectory.

EL ESCRITORIO DEL PARROCO

Queridos Feligreses: Estaba celebrando la misa de "María, Madre de la Iglesia" el lunes y un niño que lloraba en el banco delantero no dejó de llamar mi atención durante la misa. El niño estaba de pie junto a su padre, que estaba tratando diferentes cosas para que se sienta cómodo y a gusto. Instintivamente busqué a la madre pero no la vi hasta un poco después cuando ambos se turnaban para cargar al niño que se había quedado dormido. Esta experiencia me hace pensar en una de las razones por las que el Papa Francisco incluyó es-ta celebración en el Calendario Universal de la Iglesia. El quería "... alentar el crecimiento del sentido materno de la Iglesia en los pastores, reli-giosos y fieles, así como un crecimiento de la ver-dadera piedad mariana ...". Al meditar como Iglesia sobre la naturaleza de Dios que es la Trinidad, pensamos en cómo toda la vida proviene de Dios y cómo Dios se nos ha revelado mostrándonos lo que es vivir perfecta-mente a través de la unión del Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. Es bueno intentar cada año com-prender el misterio de la Trinidad cada vez más. Es amor perfecto. También es un don tener el ejemplo de María, nuestra Madre, quien con su presencia también nos ayuda a comprender la realidad nutritiva de Dios. Ese padre en la iglesia tratando de cuidar a su pequeño hijo es un ejemplo para nosotros, la igle-sia, de que nuestra fe nunca es solo protección, estabilidad y profesión de las buenas nuevas. También se trata de cuidar, nutrir y ser materno para todos sus miembros y para toda la creación.
